JAHpowAn actual wakeboard boat is unnecessary. If you have a boat you just need to weigh it down to create a larger wake. They make in-boat water bladders for that or just have a bunch of friends in the boat. You can easily create a homemade tower.
I just carve around behind a jetski at my lake since we just have that and a pontoon on the water.
Wakeboarding is really easy to learn as well. It only took me a couple tries to get up and stay up. But it's a lot different than snowboarding and not similar to park skiing in the least.
plyswthsqrrlsmight be an unpopular opinion but fuck it
wakesurfing > wakeboarding

Barefootin_Fiendif you just want to ride around like a weekend warrior boner, then you're correct, a wb boat isn't necessary. if you want to get good, you really need to ride behind a wb boat. there's more to it than just the wake.
theabortionatorYou could learn a few tricks, maybe build some sliders, but you're never going to be able to get good at throwing big tricks over the wake without a good boat. IT's just the way it is honestly.
JAHpowAnd you guys are absolutely right but sometimes a boat specifically for wakeboarding is unfeasible.
Mr.noodleCompletely agree, especially after a long day of wake boarding it's fun to just chill and wake surf. And also falling is just like nothing compared to wakeboarding

BoogieWomanWakeboarding is ace, but I've fucked myself up a lot more from wakeboarding than I have skiing. Wakeboard slams are harsh. My knees and shoulders are wrecked. I ride behind a wake boat (Mastercraft X-Star) which I own along with 2 other friends. It costs a fortune to run and maintain but it's the best thing I've ever bought. So many fun times have been had on that boat! Ive ridden behind shitty boats with fat sacs and sure it's OK but once you ride behind a wake boat, you don't go back. But whoever said surfing is better, I'm with you. Now I'm getting older, I find surfing more enjoyable. Surfing is way more social, I surf whilst drinking and chatting to my friends on the boat, it's awesome..!
plyswthsqrrlshow much ballast does the x-star come with from factory?
I have an x2 and I loaded another 1600 lbs of fat sacks into the left side (800 stern, 400 mid, 400 bow). The wake is pretty damn tall now (just around waist height) but I'm trying to lengthen the pocket out some more
no_steezeThis dude who lives on the same lake as my grandpa has an X2 with such a loaded wake he was literally eroding the shores. The lake authority had to intervene. He wouldn't even use it for wakeboarding that much, just some dumb rich guy buying cool equipment to feel cooler

BoogieWomanStraight out of the factory it comes with 900 lbs, but we installed an additional ballast system which gives us an extra 1,900 lbs integrated into the factory system so total is 2,800. It's pretty crazy tbh!
