Bed bunk ruined my leg

so ns, for the last couple days i've been staying at a friends house. i ended up having to sleep on the top bunk on a bunk bed. anyways, in the middle of the night last night, during a very deep sleep, i rolled off the bed and fell about 5.5 feet to the floor. the impact woke me right up, but when i tried to stand up i couldn't. something happened to my leg. it took all of my effort to climb back up the ladder to my bed. I hoped that some sleep would help my leg, but the next day (today) it's even worse. I can barely walk on it, sitting is incredibly uncomfortable, and pooping is pretty much impossible.

so guys, what happened to me? how can i fix this?

I always wondered what would happen if i rolled off a bunk bed while asleep. I slept on one for three years with no railing and never rolled out though.

My buddy was sleeping on the top bunk of my bed maybe 10 years ago when I had one.

He "woke up" in the middle of the night and tried to sleep walk....he jumped off the bed at like 2am and flew into my dresser. Scared the living shit out of me. He had absolutely no idea where he was when he woke up on the ground lol.

I mean like it could end really badly. What if you roll out head first and just land right on your head or smack the corner of something on the way down. I was more wondering if you'd wake up as you were falling and pull some ninja shit to not get hurt.

I imagine it would be a lot like waking up from a dream where you think you are falling.....lots of frantic, desperate flailing.

I went to woodward when I was about 11 and was on the top bunk(at the time they had 3 tier bunks.) So I was a good 10-12 feet off the ground. I fell off the ladder because I'm retarded and landed right on my ass. It hurt and I woke up the entire cabin. It was a great time.

I had a top bunk for most of my childhood. I fell out a few times over the years, but other than being sore in the morning, never had any injuries from it.

Kinda relavent, when I was 10 or so I was play fighting on the top bunk with my brother I lost balance and fell knocked my self out for a good 3 minutes

In case you ever have to sleep top bunk again, here's a tip from sleeping in a tour bus...


Whatever edge is the open edge that you're liable to fall off of, tuck that side of the sheets and blankets underneath the mattress. So it creates a "stopper" in a sense. It may not seem like much, but its definitely enough for your body to realize it can't go any farther without pushing an uncomfortable amount of pressure to drag the rest of your blankets over your body to create more room.

when i was about 6 years old me and a friend of mine always jumped from the top bunk onto a bunch of pillows and blankets, he jumped to far and landed straight on his head , thats when he had his first concussion haha

yeah hopefully this would work. I'm not sure though because there was 3-4 inch barrier on the bunk bed i was on, but i still rolled over it and plummeted to my doom

Freshman year of college we had our beds lofted with a futon under my roommates bed. I always jumped off my bed in the morning just out of ease. One time i ran way farther than i should have the day before, i landed and calf cramped up right away. I went head first into the futon bar and knocked myself out. Never jumped outta my bed again

When I was 6 I went on an overnight trip with school to a farm and we were staying in bunk beds in a converted barn. I was play fighting with a friend on the top bunk and I managed to fall off. The floor was solid stone and I broke my arm. It sucked but I got a cool teddy bear for being so brave!

When my brother and I were younger we shared a room with a bunk and I still remember one night he fell off the top bunk and even though he was still soemwhere aroung 5th or 6th grade he was chubby and when he fell the whole house shook, I didnt wake up from that but then our dresser slammed to the ground and I woke up in a split second and although I knew what happened I thought our house was haunted.

I had a lofted bed too. I was feeling athletic one night and I tried to just jump and grab the edge of the bed to pull myself up, instead of climbing the bars on the end like a ladder. I forgot to account for the fact that the mattress is squishy, not a hard edge. So I grabbed it, it offered no support and I swung under my bed and did half a backflip before landing on my back and hitting my chair. Lesson learned.

If its below the knee it sounds an awful lot like a fractured tibia, you might want to get a xray. BUT if its above the knee I would be very surprised if you fractured your femur by rolling off a bed.
