UK general elections

I haven't voted yet, will be doing so soon though. I imagine we'll have another coalition government....

Potential for this to be a very historic election.very close, although the exit poll says otherwise. Snp for most scottish seats as well. Interested to see where it goes

Honestly was not expecting Conservative to win as easily as they have done. I thought UKIP were going to do a lot better than they have, it seems they've won a lot of votes, 22% and 2nd place in my constituency, but the first past the post system seems to have screwed them over...

As a labour voter, this election was a fucking disaster, for anybody who voted conservative please tell me why? Privatised NHS? EU referendum that could lead to the biggest loss of industry since pit closures? Further austerity?

it's a referendum, it is unlikely to pass. However if you don't think that it isn't considered an important issue by the electorate you are incredibly naive, just take a look at the 3.5 million UKIP voters in the election (and 4 million in the european election). People think we are putting way more into the EU than we get out and want to see reform, to some extent I agree. You do not have to want to leave the UK to ask for a referendum, if anything it is put pressure on the EU and show we are prepared to leave. Similarly to the SNP majority in scotland despite the 55% vote for the union at the referendum.

Why didn't i vote labour? I frankly think that any possibility of SNP in a majority UK government is enough, although policy by policy i tend to agree with the tories.

Didn't vote for the tories. Wasn't even going to vote, because in my constituency the tories won with 54% of the votes, which was inevitable and has been that way for a LONG time. I wasn't surprised with the amount of votes UKIP got

One of the (possible) reasons the tories won again is that people are afraid of change and until Cameron fucks up big time, people will continue to vote for him .

Cameron said he doesn't want a third term, I doubt he'd go against this just because who the fuck would want to run the country.

There is a danger that Cameron will lose control of his backbenchers which would lead to a chaotic administration. Fortunately it also means some of the more ridiculous Conservative policies (banning internet encryption...) probably will not pass.

An EU referendum is unfortunate, but if the leadership can come up with some equally disgusting propaganda as they did for the AV referendum I doubt we'll leave.

This time calls for voting reform are more universal, and rightly so. As much as I detest UKIP, getting twice as many votes as green and no extra seats is ridiculous. The SNP vote/seat share is often brought in here, it is irrelevant because the SNP only stood in Scotland, which makes up roughly 1/12 of the population.

I kinda feel sorry for the Lib Dems, the amount of crap they blocked is soon going to become all to apparent. They were always going to take losses, but few expected them to be this big. I don't think they have been pushed to irrelevance yet though, they will come back to being a minor player again. They lost hard because of tuition fees, everything anything wrote about them went something along the lines of 'the lib dems restrained the tories, preventing them from passing some of their more controversial laws such as the snoopers charter. They are however responsible for the rise in tuition fees.' I'm not all that pissed about tuition fees, I may currently be incurring £50k debt but with the ridiculously lenient repayment scheme I doubt I'll notice it in the future.
