Who else has been getting fucked with cars lately?
My old car was an 01 suby outback. Even as my first car I tried babying that thing and ended up with a blown head gasket. Sold it for what i could get, and got helped out by my parents on an 04 jetta tdi with 165xxx kms. Ive had it for less than 2 months, took it in for an oil change, and they noticed a slight leak which turned out to be transmission fluid which led to an investigation which led to the discovery that my flywheel had recently broke, fucked the transmission and clutch and now im looking at a 4k repair cost. nice. Both of the cars i got thoroughly inspected before i bought aswell as doing a ton of research before buying. Anyone else have any bad luck recently?
two weeks after i had bought the truck that i'm currently driving i was parked along side the street in the spot that was closest the intersection. a large truck pulling a 20-25' flatbead trailer stopped at the light next to me. i opened my door and began to exit my vehicle as soon as the light turned green and the other truck decided to turn right (without a signal) catching the rear wheel well of his trailer on my open drivers side door; ripping it all the way forward to the point of it touching the front fender.
naturally the driver of the other truck stops, comes and surveys the damage. he says it's my fault. i shouldn't have been exiting my vehicle when he had a green. he calls an on-duty cop friend. (small ass town) low and behold, his friend sides with him! what are the chances?! cop is nice enough to "let me off without a citation" and "it's fortunate that the trailer wasn't damaged".

OP your first mistake was buying a subi between the years of 00-03. if you had done any research you would have found that they were terribly consistent of having terrible headgaskets that would blow really fast. and yeah really? a jetta tdi? cmon if you want a car thats gunna last do some serious research on it especially on the specific year you are buying. but still that sucks. i bought a 98 outback and crashed it into a rockwall 3 weeks after i got which cracked the cam seals a few weeks later which lead to new cam seals, water pump, and timing belt. still going kinda strong tho

My transmission was rebuilt 3 times on my 98 accord, but the 3rd was because they didn't fully fix it on the second so they had me bring it back to their head mechanic and he just completely re built it again for free. It has been running perfect ever since.
That shits lame, I'm not even going to put tires on it. The point of being a boat is to be a boat. I'm just gonna hammer on the throttle and cruise down the interstate in my beautiful boat.

not really fucked but i keep having to repair little things. car is 15 years old so that's to be expected. for example i'll be re-doing a bunch of seals/gaskets sometime soon to try to keep more oil INSIDE the engine instead of outside and underneath

The most recent, a woman pulled half way through an intersection pulling a right on a red, saw a sign prohibiting that and threw her car in reverse. Drove backwards into me.
The woman gave me 1500 dollars cash for it though, and it's only costing me 750 to fix so that's not all bad, still though having nice things is hard.

Yeah it did work out in my favour, the woman was absolutely insistent on not filing a police report so she clearly had some reason not to.
It could have easily worked out horribly for me, since it was my front bumper and her back bumper all she really would have had to say was I hit her and I would have been at fault.

My 1988 Ford f150s power steering went out about 9 months ago and didn't get it replaced until about a month ago, it has no ac no sound system and get 6 miles to the gallon, but I'm looking at getting a 93 passat with a vr6 swap does anyone have any info on the reliability of it?

I feel the pain. Last fall our '04 allroad got totaled in a rainstorm because the drain got filled with leaves. Then the 99 A6 avant we got as a winter beater to replace it needs tires, a thermostat, shocks, AC fan, and the PO re sprayed it without fixing the rust so almost every body panel is bubbling with rust. And yesterday my k2500 suburban blew a head gasket. Somehow the most reliable car I've owned is an allroad...

2001 Buick century was my first ride drove it for 7 years, took it out west 4 times from Minnesota. It rides like a boat, the seats are cozy as fuck and not a single cop will look at a Buick, and not a single person will screw with it cause they assume its an old person.
Really reliable as well.
They may not look flashy (well the older models) but they are great rides.

I was driving down the left lane of a one way, instructor asked me to make a right at the next intersection, I didn't get over into the right lane of the one way in time and made a half ass attempt at moving over and he failed me for that.
The kicker was that was the first maneuver of the test, I then went through the whole test and aced it, got done thinking I passed and he said he failed me right away at the beginning. I was depressed as fuck, but two weeks later I re took it and passed.
