WheatSo happy this was the general topic. Think I did well and used a thesis like this
basic english tips I can offer are;
(1)Address the question first, either agree or disagree with it or somewhere in between. (showing both sides usually ends up with good marks as it shows you are critically thinking)
(2) Then introduce your thesis
(3) Introduce your texts, author and the style. I.E (This is evident in F Scott Fitzzgerald noval The great gatsby as where we see a young man entrepreneur through struggles and triumphs during the roaring twenties and the prohibition era. It really helps if you can frame the text as it shows back ground knowledge.
Never use "Shows". If you use shows, the market will just draw a big cross where the quote is and give you no marks. Shows is the worst word you can possible use in an essay. To connect quotes together using joining words, such as furthermore, in addition or words like that. But if you want to go to the opposite direction, use terms like on the other hand, in contrast. Juxtaposing, etc etc.
