I hate it here. there is no love of soccer. the only time it is in the paper or on tv is the world cup pretty much!!! even during the world cup there was only a small section in the paper. there was more about hockey in the offseason than there was about soccer. other than that canada is a pretty good place to live.

umm.... cko, I don't recall making fun of anyone. and what did I spell wrong?
I'm lacking sleep right now, but I didn't notice anything wrong with my post. and all of you who know nothing of the beautiful game can go back to your sports where you are covered head to toe with pads. (although rugby does kick ass)
and skiing still gets more coverage than soccer on tv.

I'm sorry that my keyboard is shit and the keys don't always work. and soccer isn't a pussy sport, it takes more balls to take on some of the guys I play against than skiing does. I get maybe 10 doys of skiing in at the mountains every year and am perfectly comfortable on any run, hitting any jump. whatever, you guys don't know shit about anything. try the sport sometime against anyone, you will probably get your ass worked. all sports kick ass. lazy people who sit and bich about people and sports that rock can go screw themselves.

cko I have no problem with you at all. its just phrosty has no idea what he is talking about. no skill to play soccer? try doing the same things with your feet that most people can't do with their hands. compare it to skiing. ( i still love skiing) but gravity is doing most of the work. and so what if it is a poor mans sport. it means everyone can do it and not just the rich posers who seem to like skiing.

i would have to say that besides skiing soccer is my favourite sport. for those of you who say it is stupid and takes no skill you are way off. it is a very skill orientated game and takes alot of finesse. it is also a very physical game. if you've ever played rep over 19 you would know that if you don't have your wits about you, you will get runover.

i would also bet a weeks pay that most of you aren't physically fit enough to sprint the length of a real soccer field. it's a real sport and it is here to stay. it is also the most played sport in the world. so those of you who think it's 'gay' are in the minority.

sorry, mate. i play rugby which is just as fuckin hard as american football and we don't wear full body armour like those pussy american football players. i also play soccer and i can confidently say that rugby is more physical, soccer is more skilful, and american football just sucks! what the hell is it with replacing the whole team every thirty seconds? in both soccer and rugby, once you get replaced you can't come back on and in aussie rules you only get 4 people on the interchange bench.

First of all anyone that says its for pussies and takes no skill better have played it first before they open their mouths. And i mean actually played it and not ran down the field in gym class and being beat by people who can play it so you automatically think its gay.

Saying its for poor and uneducated people is also wrong. However, while we're here ill explain something: Saying soccer is skill less is like saying skateboarding is skillless. Im sure most people know how much dedication skaters put into it before they are any good. In countries like Brazil, Argentina much of Africa and the middle east, kids play it everyday. Thats what they do. Its their life. And they get damn good at it. Ya sometimes on TV it looks oh so easy, but sit down and watch with anyone that knows and they are amazed at what those guys can do. They also might be able to explain better to you why it actually looked skilled.

As for the pussy part. Yes there is diving, just like in every sport where there is contact. But the reason why it looks like they fall a lot is cause they are running at full speed while trying to keep the ball by their feet. In hockey, or football your feet only move you and your hands do the other part. Try running as fast as you can and keep the ball wihtin 2ft of you. Go ahead. Some of these guys can probably also run 100m in 10secs. Another thing you have to remember is with cleats your feet stick to the ground well and if someone else hits you in an opposite direction while your foot is planted on the ground some part of your leg is gonna go the way you were hit. Think about it.

i play soccer and i enjoy it. i dont care what you fuckign think. i might start football, but i really want to play lacross and rugby. but soccer is still fun, and i get so damn physical with people out there, its so much fun, so dont hate. takes so much skill to do some of that shit they do, man thats insane,

Trust me Cnada is the WAAAAAY better than the States, I've been here for about a month now, and I cant wait to get back in Canada, the girls are prettier by FAR, the weather is better, the people are more fun, and freindlier. Overall its just a better country!

this is what I say to american football players:

In soccer there are no time outs, no helmets, no shoulder pads, no commercial breaks, no warm duggouts, no halftime extravaganzas. so if thats what you need, play another sport. you big wuss.

actualy american football is fun, but.... no. and it does take skill, don't get me wrong I love all sports.

even just look at the fitness of soccer/ aussie rules/ rugby players. most players play the full game, 90 mins for soccer, not sure about the others. many american sports do not have athletes of the same caliber. I'd like to see a hockey or football or baseball player run constantly for an hour and a half with a 15 min break in the middle. I'm sure some could, but I'm postitve many couldn't.

you are definitely right about that whole fitness thing. Aussie rules, which is another sport i play, we have to play for 2 hours on a field which is about 170 metres long. that is fitness mate.
