Help me pick a surfy fat jib ski

Looking for fun pow ski, something that will let me make surfy turns and butter. Should also be able to hold it's own when there isn't fresh snow.

Skis I'm considering currently:

Line Magnum Opus
Atomic Bent Chetler
on3p Jeffrey 122
Moment Ghost Chant

My one ski quiver for the past few seasons has been a pair of 178 Moment Night Trains, which I've really liked.

What do you think is the best ski that fits this description? I'm currently leaning towards the Magnum Opus, but am worried that a 188 ski will be too big for me (I'm 5'8").

I considered all of those and ended up on YLEs. Skis like these feel like they ski short to me because of the twin tip rocker and forward mounting point.

I used to own the YLE. Such a fun ski, highly recommend. I don't think its super "surfy", but it does float.

Ive also spent time on the Jeffery and thats the ski id choose out of the ones you have listed. Super fun ski my man. Message me with any questions on either!

Yeah I think that would be a bit too long. For 5'8", I wouldn't go any longer than like 183 or so.

The rocker2 122 is a fenomenal pow ski, but not much more then that. You wont be able to carve on hardpack at all

Have you thought of the icelantic Da'nollies? They aren't super fat but they have all you want

You're joking right? He's looking at a bunch of ~120mm underfoot pow skis and you recommended a 95 underfoot symmetrical park ski

Tbh I didn't even read his post. I just read the tittle "Help me pick a surfy fat jib ski" by that I thought he was talking about a wider park ski. My bad tho.

im 5'8" and wouldnt go shorter than about 185.. I love my 191 caylors, very surfy due to the rocker profile and still pretty good all round due to the stiff flex pattern. I havent been on the 122 jeffreys but i believe that theyre quite similar.

Are they good in the trees? Is spinning difficult?

They're fantastic in the trees! They definitely have more swing weight than a park ski but I've done spins up to 7 off windlips and medium sized natural jumps pretty easily. I havent skied them much in the park but have done the odd 270 or 450 off. I'm a fairly strong skier who likes to drive the skis so I tend to like my skis longer than most (especially when they're significantly rockered). How do you like the length of your Night Trains? Depending on how and where you ski, I think that you would be happy with anything from around 180-190. I've found that it's pretty easy to adjust to different lengths over a couple days.

jcaHow do you like the length of your Night Trains?


I've liked my Night Trains a lot, but I've been wanting to try a new ski for a while now. I think I've become a stronger skier since I've gotten the Night Trains, and am ready to handle something longer.

Additionally, some of the skis I've been looking at (like the magnum opus) only come in one, longer size (188 in that case).

you couldnt be more wrong, ive skied only that ski four seasons straight out east, it rips high speed wide arching turns, has regular camber underfoot, pivots on a dime, can slash, butter, ski great switch, great in the trees, things absolutely slay everywhere but icey hardpack, than i just drift and butter .

Jeffrey 114. More camber than the 122 so the will be better when there isn't fresh snow and they are able to float in powder.
