I got to a catholic school and today we had a presentation about other religions. We got to Rastafarianism and the key components to this religion is their distaste for white people. One of the Rastafarian core beliefs as I was told is their hatred of white people, as they feel that people with lighter skin represent humanities fall from grace. Of course the first thought to enter my mind was Henrik Harlaut. Other core beliefs include the knotting and not cutting of hair as well as the continuos use of marijuana to open ones eyes to the spirit of God. Henrik Follows both of these, at this point I'm very confused about Henrik's religious beliefs as well as his entire lifestyle, would appreciate if someone could shed some lights on this situation.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the hatred for the white man is more commonly interpreted as a distaste for the western and european societies. At least nowadays anyways.

LOL, off course your stupid white religion class uses a very small minority of Rastafarian politics and uses it as a whole. Rastafarians believe they were persecuted by white people so as such there is a small percentage of the religion that do not like whites.
Your religion class isn't educating you about other religions, they're blatantly lying to you to ensure you stay a christian.

Generally Rastafarianism is extremely homophobic, I doubt henrik embraces that especially because he lives in Sweden. Henrik was probably brought up in Christianity which is holds similar beliefs to Rastafarianism, I just have no idea where he is on the spectrum or if he is even on it. I have no clue if he is religious or just lives by the messages of peace, love, and anti-materialism. Spirituality is a personal thing, it's difficult for younger people and their role models to be outgoingly religious because of the cultural stigma on it and the stereotype that some outgoingly religious people are idiotic bigots. I don't think the hatred towards whites is caused by a religious belief of impurity, I think it's caused by the long history of white nations exploiting Africa, the religious side is just a way to justify or explain it. I really dont know much about Rastafarianism or henrik's religious beliefs, but I did feel like typing out something that sounded smart even if it isn't.

I can say this, swedes are not religious. Im 99% secure that Henrik isnt religious, I live here and I know no one that is christian believer.
I can tell you as a person who grew up in catholic school and took religion class for 13 years that you should NEVER believe anything said in religion class about other religions.

I go to a catholic school but am actually a very loose Luthern, religion is actually not enforced here to an extreme extent, we have jew's, atheists, buddhists , etc. at our school. Our class split into groups of 5 and did a project on one religion. The rastafarian group gave information talking about how Marcus Garvey was a rastafarian prophet that predicted the coming of the black messiah, king of Ethiopia, Ras Tafari. Marcus was looked up to and considered the founder of the religion, he blatantly said that White people are inferior to black people. The group gave multiple sources to back this information up, thats why I was confused.

I forget what exact ski movie (maybe road to Zion) where Henrik actually talks about rastafarianism and how its changed his life for the better, I'm pretty sure.

Thanks for informing me. I just assumed that he was brought up religious because that's the case with a lot of people in the world. I never knew sweden was an outlier. Only 29% claim a religion in sweden 50% say that they are not religious according to this study http://www.wingia.com/web/files/news/14/file/14.pdf

Damn that sucks. I went to Catholic school for 10 years where they encouraged us to research and ask about other religions, and as much as I can remember the teachers answers were honest even without pressing some biblical quote on me. But there are some less tolerant and more extreme than others.

Religion is based off neither fact nor fiction but belief. The power of belief should never be underestimated.

That's fine, if sheep want religion to control their life thats their person choice, I'm just saying people make up religions to make money.

I dont know. Im sure he smokes his fair share of weed, but having dreads doesnt mean he's rastafarian, nowadays its more of a declaration that said person smokes weed. In general its kinda a bummer for actual rastas. Rastafarianism is a very pure religion and its kinda a bummer to see a serious custom taken so lightly by so many people who want to tell the world they enjoy weed. I'm not saying henrik does this but just kinda a rant i just thought about.

I'm not religious, but this is an incredibly ignorant thing to say. Considering there are religions which are thousands of years old I'm sure that when they started profits weren't on their list of priorities.
