Thinking about heading Down under

If you can live in either of those cities with your friend, do it.

Jindy is about 6 hours away from both. Jindy rules.

I take it you want to do Perisher because of the Vail acquisition, but you'd be better off skiing in Victoria if you were in Melbourne.

jindabyne is about the same distance from sydney and melbourne, but there are ski resorts closer to melbourne. its about a 6 hour drive if youre just cruising with breaks, can do it a lot quicker.


jindabyne is the closest town to perisher (perisher does not have a village) and is pretty loose because of all the young workers.

perisher is spread out over quite a lot of land, but not a big mountain per se. this means the runs are fairly short. while theyre are black runs, there is no realllyyyy advanced terrain.


over all mountain is comparable to an east coast resort. not much vertical. australian conditions mean its pretty much like spring skiing for most of the season. we will get a couple of cold snaps every now and then but id say the temps rarely get below -2 or -3


perisher do a good job with their parks, they use the same head of parks as whistler im pretty sure, brian or something.

definitely worth checking out.


sydney vs melbourne. ive not been to melbourne, but i know it gets quite a bit colder than sydney. also sydney nightlife is slowly going down the drawn due to recent legislations etc, melbourne definitely has better nightlife.

thats not to say you cant go out and have a good time in sydney. its just not what it was a couple of years ago.

Yeahh you have about a month of touring. And you can only tour as snow mobiles are heavily restricted by the national parks. But where you that dude in Whistler at the start of January who asked where I was from and when I said Manly you said that everyone here is from the northern beaches???

Best Touring is on the NSW main range. Approaches usually take a bit over two hours to decent stuff. Check out ozbc.net Pictures are a couple of seasons old but show you a lot of the main lines
