Chargy Big Mountain Ski

Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy a decently stiff and lightweight big mountain for myself. I also want the waist to be around 105-115mm.
I am 5'10", 140lbs and I ski in Alberta. My skiing level is pretty high (i charge everywhere).
I was looking at the Faction Candide 3.0 and I think it's pretty suitable.
Any other suggestions?

ON3P Wrenegades, you can ski them pretty hard and fast, but they're still a hell of a lot of fun, and surprisingly nimble when you need them to be. I'm skiing on the 2013 model, since then they're have been some tweaks to the design, but from what I can gather these would only make them a little quicker edge to edge and improve their handling in variable snow.

If the Bent Chetler was chargy, then the Automatic would not exist.

The old Bent Chetler is "chargier" than the old Automatic. I owned both, and two friends who moved from Automatic to Bent Chetler say the same. The new Automatic is meant to be stiffer in the tail but it really doesn't feel it in-hand and the tail wasn't really really the problem anyway.

Candide 3 looks good on paper but a they're too light to ski hard (according to a friend who I skied the full day with when he tried them, over head-height), which is my experience with light skis too.

Unless you'll always ski good snow then forget about the weight and focus on how it skis. Look at Devastators if you want it kind of jibby or old Katanas otherwise. Cochise over head-height maybe.

if you want a hard charger, don't listen to anyone who recommends anything with significant tail rocker, like the Atomic Benchetler. You want a flat tail, directional ski.

I absolutely love my 191 wrenegades for charging. the flat tail and low camber make them very easy to ski in shitty snow and tight places too.

Go with the standard Faction 3.zero over the 3.0. Full beech wood core, stiffer, more cambered, and heavier will have you much more stable at higher speeds. I have them myself, and I love them to death.

the atomic vantage ritual is the big mountain titanium backbone ski from them, with nordica its the helldorado, armada invictus. all hard chargers.

Check out the Liberty Variant 113... Pretty ballsy directional ski that is awesome in pow and, as a bonus, it slays hard pack for 113mm underfoot

Well, if it folds like a bitch in stiff set up crud, then it's not a charger. The BC did not feel at all chargy to me, and I ski'd it for half a season in the PNW.

I'm not saying it's "chargy", just that it is morso than the Automatic which was marketed all wrong. Better than the Automatic in bad snow for sure and more stable in almost all situations. I never take the Bent Chetler out in bad snow. Both are nice skis, both fit a purpose, but probably not what the OP wants.

I'm talking about the 12/13 & 13/14 Bent Chetler by the way, which were a bit stiffer than the older models.

Yeah this for real… haha. But that's stupid because the whole atomic team that skis the bentchetler goes huge and "charges" and even better skiers going bigger on lighter skis like Candide on Faction and Eric Pollard on LIne Opus.

I'm saying there is a wide range of skiers who describe themselves as chargers, many of whom like very different skis. So when someone says they want a ski that can charge, with no other details, I don't know what the fuck they want.

Get some red ones.

ive never met someone who didnt know chargey meant something made for fast, fall line skiing with big radius turns. pretty stiff and damp usually follows that. hell, my gaper friends even infer that without a problem. i think you just need a juice box and a nap

If I had a dollar for everyone who told me they were a 'chargy' skier and did nothing like you described...

Still plenty of people who ski like that who prefer skis like the Magnum Opus or Opus, although not normally considered 'chargy' skis. Shit, Cody Townsend is a prime example, he skis harder than most and prefers the Rocker2 series of skis over the old Dictator or current Lab.

Point is, saying you want a charging ski, gives little idea what would be appropriate for you.

Are you set on a twin tip or are you open to going to something directional with a flat tail?

I disagree. You are right that a lot of pros and better skiers "charge" on "non-chargy" skis. That's the point. Those skis like the Rocker2, not the skiers, are non-chargy. He's asking for a hard charging ski. No one is asking about the ability of the skier.

gonna be honest and say that's what came into my mind when I saw 3.0's in op's post.

I personally like nordica helldorados. Playful shape for when you want to play around but still charges hard due to two sheets of titanium. It's also not a incredibly over bearing ski to drive but holds up when you start to pick up speed and start running over gapers, small children, slow sings, ticket checkers, yellow jackets, forest rangers, and what ever the hell else stands in your way.
