Coldest you've ever been?

At one point this year when I took my boots off and the bottom of my feet just didn't want to feel anything, turned out I had frost nip on my heel.

I'm sure people on here have seen a lot worse... Let's hear your horror stories

Well one day this year in nh there was wind chill of like -80 on mount Washington, it was the second coldest place on earth. The local resorts had a wind chill of about -40 so that was probably the coldest weather I've ever skiied in.

i'm not considering wind chills in these, but the coldest temperature i've skied in is -35C and the coldest i've ever been outside is maybe -44C a few years ago.

Living up in MN is sweet with all the rope parks, but temps can suck dick. Skied in less than negative 20 a few times this year.

Last season -20F was like the norm in Minnesota (same with a lot of midwest/eastern Canada too). Anything above zero was considered a heatwave. Thanks polar vortex, thanks Obama. Skied in -30ish shirtless #toss4tom. Theres a small town nearby Giants Ridge (film location for toss4tom) called Embarrass that's gotten below -60F.

Had a state finals race at nubs nob this year, in the morning it was -25 and of course to be as fast as possible we had to wear our GS suits which are not warm at all. Defiantly coldest i have ever been.

yee, I make a living off of doing stupid shit for Tom's enjoyment. Tom is a fellow hyland rider but hasn't been able to get out as much recently.

East coasters: remember that day this February when it was -50f for a weekend? I was up in the bottom of Tuck's skiing the little headwall in 60mph winds. A really thick layer of skin on two of my left toes turned brown, blistered, and fell off a couple weeks later. It was pretty chill.

I actually start getting pretty stoked in extreme conditions like that. Another time last year I was skiing the snowfields on Algonquin and as we approached the summit winds picked up to near 90mph, according to some guy we saw on our way up. Some of the guys in our group were getting freaked out and wanted to go back, but I was like fuck it, I feel badass! Wind doesn't kill you and it's pretty awesome to experience weather like that.

Here in the PNW it barely got below 30 F the whole season.

The coldest I've ever been in is about 0 F, but I don't know about the wind chill.

About 3 years ago me and my cousin were up hunting south of Int Falls. It was like -10 out and we had spent the entire evening freezing our asses off while leaning against a tree and playing I spy (We're not very good hunters). At around 6:00ish it started to get dark too dark to see so we walked our way back to my 4 wheeler and to my surprise it didn't start. Wouldn't be a huge if we were at our normal spot, but instead we decided to go back to this recently slashed woods that was a good 5 1/2 miles from our shack. Keep in mind these are big ass woods. So we ended up walking the first couple miles to the main trail. At that point it was like 7:30 and we were both shivering. Someone finally got concerned enough about us to come to our rescue. We always carry of Walkie with us now.

Was on a winter camping ski trip two winters ago. Kept checking the weather the week before and it kept getting colder -25C, -28C, -30C for lows. Decided to give it a go anyways. Got the truck stuck on the way to the loading zone, so we never got to the camping location till 3pm. Built a snow shelter and hunkered down for 4 days. Checked the historical weather after, it was -33C in the evening in the town of Blue River which is in the valley. we were about 100 meters below the treeline.

I honestly wasn't too bad in the evening because I had a -40C sleeping bag, my buddies though, fuck

I was skiing into a yurt when it was -40 with windchill And I forgot my ear was exposed. When I got home, my ear had no feeling and the skin started peeling off.

Yup, a friend and I skied in -30 degree weather last year. Dressed for it, never got cold.

one time i had the brilliant idea of cliffjumping into the north atlantic in december, thats probably the coldest ive ever been, but i was able to get out of the water and changed really fast.

Other than that , a couple of years ago i was racing a j24 just offshore in november and we broached going downwind when some crazy 35-40knot gusts came through, which really sucked alot beacuse i was on mast and there is basically nothing to hold onto so i went right into the water. was actually pretty scary because the waves were like 10-15 feet so luckily i had a pfd on and was able to hold onto a line and get back to the boat. was fucking COLD and i had to race the rest of the day until we got back, very wet underneath my splash gear.

for those of you who have no clue what i am talking about. skip to 0:45 and watch what happens to the guy in the front. Just imagine november, more waves, and more wind.

actually i take back my previous statement, the coldest i have been was not at sugarloaf. sailing dingies takes the cake. I remember chester NS being pretty cold, colder than the bedford basin at least. but sailing in maine where there is no effect from the gulf stream...fuck that water is cold

Also, Mt Jore 06. Negative 65 windchill, actual temp was negative 30-35 I think. Shit was nuts. In the minute or two between getting out of the gondola and getting to the midlodge not far below I got frostbite on my nose. Just kicked inside byt the fire and ate free food all day after I opened the parks. Wasn't like anyone was riding anyway

Fernie a few years ago... got this dirty big airmass down off the arctic that just sat over the area for a few days. It was something like -40c plus windchill - mountain closed half the time because people were getting frostbite on the chairs.

It's weird how temperature is probably the most exaggerated measurements. I had a great time going through this thread and comparing the numbers people post to the record all-time lows measured in the areas they come from and about 1/2 of them are exaggerated beyond record lows set in 1881 or other years long ago.

Coldest was somewhere around -50C with windchill. Most ski hills close once it goes lower than -25.

Mt snow this year i skied and it was -25 at the base and -35 at the top with windchill. Of course it was too windy for the bubble chair so you had to ride the quad all the way up, super fucking cold by the time you got to the top.

It's because the colder you've been, the more manly you are. You can show that you don't need the warmth of a building. This is also the very same reason why rappers refer to themselves as being "cold". Contrary to popular belief, Ice Cube is not the coldest rapper out there, he's only 32F. -50F air temp with 100mph winds. The lift shack at the time I was sitting in got hit with a bastard of a wind gust and blew out my window. I ended up getting frostbite on both pinky toes for the third time and I don't feel them anymore.

This past winter NH had a freezing point, we even had 2 hour delays for school and still drove to school in about -15 degrees and Ive definetley skied in weather between -5 to -15 degrees... Really not fun.

Wind chill -40F at Killington on Monday of Presidents Weekend. I have never been that cold in my life, nothing was open because of the wind too. That was the only time I have ever seen a resort offer full day refunds to everyone that skied that day.

I once skied urban in -40 in a hoodie and when I got home I had such bad frostbit in my fingers and feet that it felt like I had needles in my skin. If your skiing urban in the cold bring a warm drink or some soup to warm you up.
