Max Parrot just stomped the first switch quad underfilp 1620

Shits crazy and although it is sick i dont really like it. Fuck progression, lets go back to those og days.

i'm glad they posted the sequence shot as it clearly shows that it's "just" a 180 with a quad back. it's crazy, yes, but not 4 flips and 4 rotations combined.

That was incredibly stomped, wow. I think it's great to see some progression like this in a few private shoots by the top riders, however I really hope it doesn't show up in competitions for a looong time

While I usually agree I feel like the slow motion shot clearly shows all 4 1/2 rotations
first 360 is at :39
720 is at :42
1080 is at :44
1440 is at :46

I think it's cool to see don't expect it in slope for some time being though

A flip is 360 degrees. 360 × 4 = 1440 then add on the 180 and you get 1620. Its not like a cork where you actually spin

Like I get that and everything but doesn't that make the quad underflip part of the trick name redundant? Like you wouldn't call a double backflip a dub 7 or a doublebackflip 720

yeah. I don't snowboard, but one might assume that once you are a snowboarder at that level you might be just as comfortable at taking off from a jump with left or right foot forward for it to not matter.

maybe not always but the trick is an underflip 540 and when someone says that, it's not incorrect, it's just redundant/superfluous

similar to the way i can say "cool misty, Hansel" when someone does a misty 5 because without further description, misty means misty 5

Switch on a snowboard is pretty much equivalent to unnatty on skis. Most people can do things both ways but it is more impressive switch. Maybe Max prefers underflips switch or something, just like Woodsy did his first triple leftside (unnatty)

Ya im not disagreeing with you, calling it just a quad underflip makes perfect sense. I was just explaining to the other dude where the 1620 came from

But switch on skis is totally different physics involved. Your body position is completely different (don't crouch the same or look the same as forward) and your joints are all the opposite way (knees bend uphill instead of down) and such. On a snowboard switch is exactly the same, just a mirror image.

Well doing four backflips is doing four backflips whichever way you cut it. Switch or not he literally does a precarve 90 that makes it actually look easier than if he had gone regular. Not exactly comparable to spinning unnaturally but maybe its just me

What about completely inverted flat/rodeo 5 type tricks. Some people have thrown double 9's of that where they're spinning straight over head just looking over their shoulder instead of straight back.


Anyway, give it till next season and you're going to see some legitimate quad corks and then you complain that they did too many spins instead of laying out like this video.

For snowboarding, you really can go completely inverted and call it a frontside cork 5 btw.

Yeah I definitely think skiers pay more attention to snowboarding than snowboarders do skiing.

My point was that age has nothing to do with whether I know about snowboarding or not.. Also I'm not sure how finding Riff Raff to be hilarious is an indication of age but okay.

Anyways, back to the actual topic at hand, he still spun naturally into the precarve 90 right? Really it set him up a lot better for 4 backflips than if he had been riding regular. Just stop and think about it. He normally throws underflips that way too which seems to indicated that its easier/more comfortable for him to do it that way thus proving my point. So I wouldn't say that it's really analogous to spinning unnaturally in skiing at all. But that's just, like, my opinion maaan
