'05 WRX Wheel Stancing

Hello all! I recently had the honor of spending some savings (saved since I was a wee little lad) on a used 2005 Blue WRX. I'd like to get a second set of wheels so I can have a summer set and winter set.



I'm curious if any of you know what the maximum wheel size (diameter? Width? Offset?) I can get away with for this vehicle is. I really don't have the money or confidence to try rolling and pulling my fenders, so I'd just like to get something as wide and large as possible that will fit in the stock body. I'm completely new to the car world and have no idea what I'm really talking about.

In case you're curious, the current stats of the OEM 05 WRX wheels on it are: 16x6.5", +55 offset, with the common 5x100 bolt pattern.

More information: I was thinking of placing some Hankook Ventus V12 Evos on the wheels for the tires. They seemed like a good all-around summer tire.

I'm going for more of a street-racy, low and fast pavement machine look rather than the raised, rally charger look.




tldr; How large of wheels can I fit inside my 05 WRX without needing modification or grinding my tires? :P

yeah, spuer cheap alternatice to plasti-dip....

Personally think white/black wheels are played but plasti-dip is a cheap alternative.

Seriously naisoc has everything you need.

KayngBayngAre you planning on driving it on dirt roads, or are you wanting it to look nice while driving on roads over the summer?

I personally would just get proper rubber on it, some proper coils and skidplates, and have fun sliding it around off roads.

I don't really plan on driving on many dirt roads. Where I live (SD) there are plenty but I needn't go on them unless I visit extended family. I mostly drive on pavement.

I definitely need new tires, as the current ones are quite low and sketchy. I was thinking I might as well get wheels too with it and save some money with a wheel-tire-balancing package in the long run.

Update:
I found out that my valve cover gaskets are leaky, and the shop is wanting to charge $450 for replacement. I bought some online and have a friend that's going to teach me how to change them myself. I also have some bad front brake pads right now, and a little rotor channeling. Shop is quoting me another few hundred. So, I dropped $400 on some powder-coated (hopefully resists rust, my current ones are rusting a lot) performance calipers, slotted rotors (cool faster, warp less easily? Hope so.), ceramic brake pads, and the gaskets. It should save me over a thousand in the future by doing this repair now before it gets worse and gives me the opportunity to learn a little bit about my car with an experienced friend.

oo, if you want to keep it looking clean I wont mention my dream goals for a street wrx hehehe

good luck on the maintenance man, as long as you dont drive insanely alll the time it shouldn't be too bad!
