Titus69I am 18
North.WestThats all I needed to know. I have just the job for you.
KayngBaynglook for something like a mcdonalds or a carwash, good management opportunities.
cydwhitI worked construction for four years. It's a good gig for high school. Make good money, learn important skills and get in shape. A lot of "pro" skiers work construction or roof or something similar in the summers as well.
KravtZI worked as a fish monger at a really successful fish market. Made $15 an hour off the books 12 hours a day 5-7 days a week. Made a ton of money and it still is a huge conversation piece of my resume since I carried that job into college
.Hugo.wait, youre 18 and still have a year of highschool left?
Titus69My friend made $20k this summer doing construction/paving which reeled me in but mentioned he burned himself with a ton of chemical shit. Maybe stand with the traffic signs? I usually sit around all summer or hang with like 2 kids so Id prefer making a good amount of money
cydwhitYeah. I mean it's "dangerous" lots of missing fingers and toes, haha but really not bad. To hold signs you gotta get trained and be union but if you do get in you make bank. The few Union jobs I was on were $32 an hour plus time and a half ot
VD.1. Construction site, general labouring pays above minimum wage. The standard hours aren't too bad, but you can also earn extra money by working overtime on weekends.
2. Warehouse work, admittedly quite dull and the hours are long, but there's lots of opportunity for overtime, and especially if you're working night you don't actually have to do that much work. I worked at a popular online retailer's warehouse (not sure if I can specify who) over the Christmas holiday and with overtime, I was able to make ~£500 a week.
Titus69Ok, I found a warehouse job for magazines nearby on craigslist that pays $11 and hour and theyre long shifts.
Titus69Just kinda sketched out because its craigslist.
Titus69The mcdonalds is off putting but I get what you mean. Work myself into a higher position?
KayngBayngstraight up full sarcasm, apply for every landscaping/laboring/warehouse positions as you can. Get some steel toed boots, and a first aid level 1-2 certification and you'll be making 15-20 an hour, maybe even full time.
Good luck man.
Wheaty214I've worked construction for a pool company since I was 16, this will be my 4th summer with them. I don't make shit (10.50 at the end of this past summer) but I work a fuck ton of hours and get tan as fuck. You'll be exhausted at the end of each day but you'll be making bank. I made about $5,000 each summer making $9.50 an hour.
If you do end up getting a job working construction, BRING YOUR OWN FUCKING LUNCH.
I cannot stress that so much, you will save so much more money than if you go out to eat, which is usually all you have time for. I snack constantly throughout the day, so make sure you bring a lot of food. You won't have time to sit down and eat your food usually.
GhosterTree planting. The work is hard, but you can get really fast at it and get in shape. The pay is based off how many trees you plant, so you could slack and make a bit, or work really hard and make a fair chunk of change.
Construction. You will learn valuable skills and probably get paid more than anywhere else entry level. It is "dangerous", but you will only get hurt if you are being an idiot. Don't be scared away because your friend fucked around with chemicals. No employer is going to make you work dangerously.
Working for your city/municipality. Look on your city or municipalities website. They usually have summer jobs posted involving landscaping, park ranger-ing, and maintenance. These jobs are usually union as well and you can make a fuckload of money. I saw a park ranger job that required no experience and payed $20. Worth looking into for sure.
SFBi nanny some kids 5 days a week 9-5. and get 500 a week under the table.
Fred_Bearand the dad usually gives you a little somethin else under the table
kim_jong_illI've worked in construction before. It's hard work but it pas well and has skills which can transfer to other jobs and the real world. I got a job this summer with Parks Canada on their trail crew. it pays 22$ an hour and it's seasonal which means I have a job all through university. On top of that, They're interested in hiring me for a higher job when I come out with my engineering degree.
dingusIf you have a waterpark of lake near you there are lifeguard opportunities, all you gotta do is sit on your ass in the warm sun
Titus69My big question is, for contruction whether I work my ass off paving and shit or controlling traffic, how the hell do I apply for this? Trying to get this figured out before June at least.
JTCasper540_MNif you have a country club nearby you, you could try caddying over the summer... I have been a caddy at a country club every summer since 6 grade and it is a pretty decent job... I get paid 50 dollars per 18 holes which usually takes around 4 hours give or take 30 minutes, for carrying 2 bags [one on each shoulder], then you can get some food/ drink usually on hole 9 and after the whole round on the golfer. plus at most country clubs the golfers will tip you, so you will be getting more than whatever you rate is most of the time... and every golfer that is there is rich as fuck... if you catch my drift [big tips] the most that I personally have been tipped by one golfer is $150... you will also probably get to golf one day a week if youre into that. I personally am able to make around $5000 dollars per summer just from caddying alone... I also bus tables and bar back at a restaraunt... so i get minimum wage there but hella good tips every night that i work... the only real downside to caddying is that you have to get up pretty early and you are pretty spent after walking around a golf course in the heat for 4-5 hours
TL;DR: caddying is a good job.
Wheaty214I got my job because my step mom knew the family who owns the pool company, ask your parent's to help you out. Use the connections they have made in life to your advantage.

JTCasper540_MNand btw I make my own hours so if i dont want to caddy that day i dont caddy if i do want to i do... simple as that
Titus69What is this tree planting deal? Is it like I go out and plant 5 trees a day and get $40? Seems kinda relaxing.[/QUOTE
