Left_BrothersWhat he said, also OP what part of Ohio are you from?
eheathYou're high AF if you think park city has a decent amount of snow haha. Until today, it was ribbons and the areas between the ribbons of snow are 5 inches to dirt. We don't have any snow, we're lucky they stayed open this long, there are like 4 of 18 lifts open and like 10 runs, were fucked.
nico.ostranderA decent amount is a flexible term. Especially where you live. To people who live out west it might not be a lot but snow is snow. At least here in Ohio hills stay open basically until there is nothing

eheathWell, most resorts on the west close with skiable conditions.
Resorts don't really make money after march, they stay open for the locals. Resorts like Snowbird stay open until you can't ski anymore and they've stayed open until july. Snowbird is the only resort in utah to do this and they CAN do it because they own the land their resort is located on. Most of these resorts in the cottonwoods operate on national forest, so they have permits until a certain time.
Park city could stay open longer, but they won't basically because they don't give a shit. Maybe vail will try to compete with snowbird and do an abasin type resort that opens early and closes late, they own all of the land pc operates on so its definitely doable...
nico.ostranderI see your point on the resorts not making money. I fell like if resorts hold more events in the late season it will bring in more revenue. Also if they close part of the mountain there would be less to run.
iskiPC1997Just weighing in. I was in pc for spring break in the end of March and unless you were skiing pArk it was not worth your time. Jupiter was open for 10 minutes and that was about the best it got. Groomers were shit and you tweaked about rocks/dirt n such. Up in the canyons was still good. I had a Hella good day at Alta (check my video) and Brighton as well. But the spring crowd is mostly locals. And as the tourists leaves so does t be big money. Everyone skiing this late in the season is on a season pass
MLJDude, the point is that this is some of the best time to get in hot laps through the park. Personally, its probably my favourite time to ski in general, because the snow pack is much more stable up high for touring and the slush is really soft to fall on in the park. Its a perfect combo, and up high there is usually more than enough snow around now still. PS my home mountain closes in a couple weeks still (end of april) but I'm already back home :'(

eheathI could say the same thing to you, you didn't read my first post :)
The post you quote I was speaking generally, like past years they could've stayed open longer, but I said in that first post, were lucky we made it to closing day this year.
