Has anyone done it without getting a student visa first? How hard was it? Any tips/tricks?
Side note: go to WSI. Don't ask questions. Just do it.

DrailI think it's really hard for Americans to get a Canadian citizenship and vice versa.
FBGMWhy do you want Canadian citizenship?
last_tangoHealth care, polite people, infinite maple syrup, less populated than the states, dope places to ski and ride, weed is just a slap on the wrist.
FBGMi'm not asking why someone in general would want canadian citizenship, i'm asking troy specifically cause he's my homie and i'm curious as to why he wants canadian citizenship.
GhosterI'll marry you Troy

eheathBecause he was just woo'd by whistler this weekend haha
Troy.Whistler ruined my life, and changed it. What's not to love about world class biking and hit-or-miss skiing?
Troy.As long as you're a Canadian and not a Nigerian Prince who needs to move his fortune out of his country, I'm in.
GhosterI've got hook up with a house in whis as well. This might be the first gay green card marriage.

paige.A lot of people in Whistler pull this off every year. With such a high turnover of employees, it's easy to make it to a management position fairly quickly and once there they'll do what they can to keep you. Plus they have a few really good immigration lawyers in town who do nothing but find a way to keep wayward aussies here. Basically you get a youth working holiday visa, stay at one job for two years, then apply for permanent residency.
Unfortunately for you, the US is pretty much the only country that matters that doesn't have a reciprocal agreement with Canada for these holiday visas, because you suck. So you may have to get Mexican/Irish/Korean/Costa Rican citizenship first.
Or marry me, my family has a place in Whistler so I'm totally a better match than Ghoster.
Chubz.eeehhhh ghoster has quite the man bun..

I.BThis thread screams Troy. Everything I know about you is summed up in this thread.
Drives 25 hours to Whistler because why the fuck not and drinking and ski companies.
Meets everyone within 20 minutes and I'm sure was very loud.
Smokes darts, breaks hearts
He brought with him to Canada, weird white frat slender fashion and yung lean music.
Instead of just deciding to move to Whistler his social instincts force him to want to change citizenship to join the natives.
THEN posts it to the internet.
lol

VD.Enter into a loveless marriage for a few years, then bail in the middle of the night and never look back.
californiagrownMove to washington. It checks all the boxes except you wont have to wait months and months for surgery, and can choose how you want to treat your medical issues!
GhosterI don't know what you're talking about. I fucked myself up and had surgery two days later.

theabortionatorOur immigration policy is balls. We make it very tough to get a visa for the states yet let fuck tons of mexicans poor over the border illegally, give them aid, talk about giving them citizen ship etc.
It suck to get a visa for America so other countries make it tough for Americans coming their as a FUCK YOU.
It's lame. Maybe not citizenship but I wish it was massively easier to get work visas in different countries. I mean, don't you want people to travel/live around the world and see everything out there? Or lets just all close our borders like douches and make everyone kick it in their homeland.
Yolo.
PS: Just marry someone, maybe you'll actually end up in love. If so you could use that as a basis for a screenplay and send it to hollywood, watch it become a blockbuster, and make millions.
pow_pow~i cant believe you guys dont even have a working holiday visa. its ridiculous.
john18061806It would be sweet to have a dual citizenship and just move whenever you get sick of your current country.
Chupa_ChupsMy dad is a citizen of Canada, would this make it easier for me to become a Canadian citizen? Cause I would love to move to whistler,
kryptonicpretty sure you can move there but you have to be there for a certain time to become a citizen, at least thats how my parents did it when they moved to the us so id imagine it's pretty similar. Lucky for me my parents are Canadian and i was born in the US so that means i have dual citizenship

paige.Well there's the working holiday visa that people have mentioned here a couple times. The US has agreements with 5 countries, Canada has agreements with 30. So that gives us a lot more options for longterm travel.
Beyond that, it's more about how people perceive you than what your passport actually does. It seems to mostly have gone away in recent years but there is a reason a lot of American backpackers would sew a Canadian flag on their backpack, or even tell people they were Canadian if asked. People have a lot of opinions about American politics and American stereotypes, whereas Canadians they just kind of go 'oh you guys are really friendly', so Americans would go under the radar by pretending to be Canadian.

theabortionatorWho the fuck does that shit?
I don't even like America that much but Jesus. IF somebody asks where I'm from I'll fucking tell them. I don't care if they hate america. And who sews flags on their backpack anyway.
Idk, never seen that and it sounds pretty dumb but to each their own.
