Lots of prayers and positive vibes coming from Montana. Jaime , I hope and pray that u will pull through this terrible injury, and I hope and pray u will make a full recovery from this...again many prayers headed your way from me and my family over here in Montana. And many prayers go out to your family as well.

I received an update from Jamie's sister this morning. They took her off of sedation, and she was able to move around a small amount. She gave a thumbs up but was unable to open her eyes.

Keep on praying and sending your good vibes. That thumbs up is a good sign but this is still a very scary situation. Think positive vibes for Jamie.

Mr.BishopIf really like to clear something up here that is bugging me.

First off - nothing but my hopes and heart go out to Jamie and her family in this situation. All I want is for her to be OK and for us as skiers to send our vibes and support.

However there was some questions posed here about us being wild even after this happened.

I was about the third person in on this scene when it happened. I assisted with anything that the patrollers asked, including holding her legs for the last ten minutes of the stabilization process to ensure she didn't move. I was right there watching this beautiful 22 year old girl fight hard as the patrollers did their work.

I have never been so emotionally shaken in person at a contest in my entire life. After she was finally taken away for an airlift to te hospital, I absolutely broke down into an emotional collapse of uncontrollable tears. Nobody doesn't give a shit in that situation, and my initial instinct was to immediately cease everything that we were doing and just walk away. I couldn't imagine going onward given what I had just seen.

Both Kim Lamarre and Jeff Schmuck helped pull me together and I asked if they thought it was the right thing to do to walk away.

However both of them strongly said that Jamie was in good hands, and as a vibrant member of our community what she would want is for the contest to go on, and have her friends enjoy the sport that we all love in the best way possible.

I made the decision to go forwards with things based off of these conversations and wanted to do my part to ensure that things went onward in her honor.

Jamie - I can't wait until soon you're reading all of this and you make a full and complete recovery.

Man, vibes to you too, that's brutal.

I've seen a few people take some huge bails but never sent someone off wondering if they would ever wake up from it.

Glad things are looking up for her, skiing really doesn't need the loss of another awesome, vibrant young person.

p.s. Anyone know how people can send a note of appreciation to the mountain's patrol or the life-flight? I feel like as a community we could do more to recognise the work these people do to catch us when we fall.

Today's joyous update
- she just had her neuro exam. I first woke her up by tickling her feet. She pulled her foot away and coughed. Then Amy and I prepped her by talking to her and touching the parts of her body the drs might ask her to move. Amy and Jeff moved her hand and foot also. Then I knew which muscle was the one. Her left thigh. The one she used to pull to get her foot away from me tickling her. And when she coughs she pulls her left thigh up. And she knows that muscle best in her body. I put my hand on her thigh and tummy. And explained I knew she could move these muscles cause she does when she coughs. But now I want you to move this muscle without coughing. I kept my hand on her thigh and tummy. Joy of joys. She moved her thigh and didn't cough. Then the neuro team came in. Today the surgeon herself did the exam. Amy and I told her it's time now to really focus and pay attention. We practiced and you are ready.
The neuro surgeon is a petite woman about the same size as Jamie. Which I think Jamie senses and likes.
She asked Jamie to wake up and open her eyes. She did. She isn't really focusing but her whole eyes were very open on her own. The neuro surgeon picked up Jamie's hand and showed it to her. And asked for another thumbs up. She did quickly. She asked for two fingers but that didn't happen. She asked Jamie to squeeze her hand. She did two or three times. She asked her to move her feet. And I said Jamie move your thigh like you did for mommy before. Show them you can move you leg from your thigh and not cough. And she did. Then I told her to put her leg back down. And she did.
Then the most joyous words a mother father and sister could hear. The neuro surgeon looked at Jamie and said, "Jamie, you're going to get through this." Smiled and left.
I stayed five minutes more to congratulate jamie and help her relax. Then just five minutes later Jeff and Amy were asked to leave too - it was time for the shift change.
So full of joy.
Thank you everyone!! Your love means so much to each and everyone of us. And especially Jamie. I wish I could hug everyone. Please accept this virtual group hug {{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}

Yesterday was a really big day for Jamie. She was officially taken off the life and death critical and moved to a trauma ICU.
There was a fare amount of energy around the move. Which she loved. She opened her eyes very wide a number of times. She didn't focus but was definitely trying.
Her assessment with her new nurse went like this.
Thumbs up, squeeze, release, thumbs up, squeeze, release, peace out. Then she was DONE. She flipped off the nurse. And I swear there was a hint of a smile on her face. The nurse told her to flip her off any time she was done.
She is still in her coma but more and more aware and moving. Beginning to get her right side in action too.
We, I for sure, and Jamie without a doubt, can get through this with your love and support. I am forever thankful and appreciative.

“Yes we are out of the ICU in Utah and going to rehab soon. She is awake and alert. She has been able to stand with the help of her PTs and gets to sit in a chafe when she wants with help to get in. She has been working on talking and bribing her voice back.

Her right arise is still slower but is waking up also. She can write with her left hand on a big pad of paper 3/4 word sentences and read out the same length. As of today she thinks it’s really really hard and she just wants to be normal.’” (from her sister)

She is also walking with a walker. There is a long road ahead, but hell yes. Keep crushing Jamie!

This is so awesome to hear!! I'm so happy that she is recovering how she is! Hoping that the rest of her recovery is quick and that she will be back on skis soon!

i go to school with her sister and played hockey with her once. she had a really tough time i remember, but their family is very close-knit. i'll pass your prayers on to her.

Good news from Jamie's FB page, "Yesterday was my fourth month of recovery! Thank you all for your support and belief in me! I can't believe how fast and well i recovered. 4 months and I have no permanent brain damage and I am cleared to get back to everything! Thank you!"
