Jaime Crane-Mauzy Crash WSI

Hey guys, Jamie Crane-Mauzy is currently in medically induced coma following a crashed dub flat at WSI/WTF. We all know Troy and Doug are in Whistler partying their faces off, but this is something extremely serious as we've been through something very similar with Sarah.

From her sister posted on social media...

"@jamiemocrazy did not wake up today when they took off the meds. They need to open her skull put in a monitoring system. She will probably be in a coma for at least a week and they don't know what kind of recovery she will make yet. We are having a full family reunion up here in Vancouver to give her all the love and attention she needs to get better. Thanks for all your support."



"Following her treacherous spill during yesterday’s 2015 AFP World Championship competition in Whistler, BC, Jamie was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital reportedly in critical condition. Today, family members met with physicians to discuss the results of her most recent neurological tests and assessments. Further tests will be conducted today and in coming days.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received.
A fearless flier, Jamie has touched so many lives, not only challenging the boundaries of her sport, but through her bubbly personality and effortless ability to light up a room.
At this time, the family asks that your continued well wishes, love and positive support for Jamie be shared here."

The family is asking for support through social networks.

Jamie is an amazing person and an even more amazing skier obviously pushing the sport she loves.

oh that is not good. I got to slope just after that happened there was tones of medical guys there, didn't know it was that bad though. Positive vibes to the her, her family and friends. hope she will be ok

No need to slander the NS crew. It's a serious accident, but you don't need to start pointing fingers at people just because you don't agree with what they're doing. You can't expect them to call off WSI parties just because someone got hurt.

Thanks for posting this here. I think it is important to mention for the support/awareness. I know the positives are great, but when a negative happens there are real people hurting and it is nice for anybody around that person to know there are other people in the court pulling for them.

On a side note does anybody know how it occurred? I saw a mention it was a double-flat, but was it double-back under-rotated? Over-rotated? Jamie's flat 3s have always been more true backflips than flats. I always feel off-axis tricks give a bit more air-sense for recovery or are at least easier to crash, but obviously either under or over is a head slam into the ground.

But vibes for Jamie because this is just terrible. Praying for the best possible outcome.

wow, any injury is scary, but ones involving the head/neck/spine are even scarier. hope she is able to pull through, my thoughts are with her for sure.

I'm just heart broken. That bubbly, spirited, fearless young girl. Praying so very very hard she has a full recovery. I'm so sad. Just two days ago I posted on her IG how Blessed she and her sister Jeanne are, then this happens! God Bless and heal her.

I know you don't mean to be insensitive here, but I don't think asking for footage is cool right now. There's obviously a certain holy-shit-I-want-to-see-what-happened factor at play, as there is with any gnarly crash. But with respect to Jamie and to her family don't fucking ask for that.

Vibes Jamie, and stay safe out there folks. I'm not ready to lose another skier.

If really like to clear something up here that is bugging me.

First off - nothing but my hopes and heart go out to Jamie and her family in this situation. All I want is for her to be OK and for us as skiers to send our vibes and support.

However there was some questions posed here about us being wild even after this happened.

I was about the third person in on this scene when it happened. I assisted with anything that the patrollers asked, including holding her legs for the last ten minutes of the stabilization process to ensure she didn't move. I was right there watching this beautiful 22 year old girl fight hard as the patrollers did their work.

I have never been so emotionally shaken in person at a contest in my entire life. After she was finally taken away for an airlift to te hospital, I absolutely broke down into an emotional collapse of uncontrollable tears. Nobody doesn't give a shit in that situation, and my initial instinct was to immediately cease everything that we were doing and just walk away. I couldn't imagine going onward given what I had just seen.

Both Kim Lamarre and Jeff Schmuck helped pull me together and I asked if they thought it was the right thing to do to walk away.

However both of them strongly said that Jamie was in good hands, and as a vibrant member of our community what she would want is for the contest to go on, and have her friends enjoy the sport that we all love in the best way possible.

I made the decision to go forwards with things based off of these conversations and wanted to do my part to ensure that things went onward in her honor.

Jamie - I can't wait until soon you're reading all of this and you make a full and complete recovery.

This is so sad to hear about. Vibes to Jamie, her family and all those involved including the NS crew and all the other athletes/people there. I couldn't imagine witnessing something like that. Praying for a quick recovery for her!
