realbiggaHey i wanna get into fly fishing any tips? I live on the east coast so any rules/knowledge you have for me?
Find some die hard old guy and ask him questions about your local rivers. It's hard to give general tips since it's all so location and season dependent. You can also find a local shop and talk to them about some basic starting strategies, and you can ask them to quickly show you how to cast which you can then practice on your lawn without a fly attached
In the meantime look up techniques online for various hatches and seasons, like which areas of the river to fish and which types of water fish like to be in depending on the season and if you're using nymphs vs streamers vs dry flies. My experience with trout is that a) they have incredible vision b) they like oxygenated water but they don't like swimming against fast current, so they'll hang out at the bottom of a faster section c) they're picky about what they eat, so you have to get quick at setting the hook when they bite since they'll spit it out otherwise
