DorianFfew small things you could work on:
I'm assuming that you used boujou to track in the title at the beginning? use c4d to create the titles instead of (ae?). by using c4d you can make sure that they have depth. they cast shadows in your edit, but the light seems to be coming from the wrong place and makes it look like the letters should be thicker than they are (if you are already using c4d then increase the depth on the letters. they also move a bit and arent perfectly tracked.(pretty well tracked, but if you really look you can tell - watch the shadows) The color scheme on the letters doesnt seem right either. It just doesnt seem natural
saga track looks good - would have preffered if the green wasnt in it (if it were all grey it would look more like graffiti)
level 1 track needs to be a different color/ there longer (plus in the shot the light is flat and it casts a pretty dark shadow)
the part where you stuck your name doesnt seem to fit either. he didnt use a drop in for that shot he used a winch, seems kind of disjointed from a storyline perspective
should have let him finish (or almost finish as far as you can see) the double back before you cut to the next angle of it
b roll of carrying water before backcountry? also seems disjointed
rail changing color was kind of cool, but a little unnecessary

all in all a good job, but really "flashy" for a ski edit. where did you learn to edit? reminds me a lot of cod editing
oakleyhidefThanks a lot for the in depth critique man. A lot of valid points about the story being disjointed and problems with the tracked effects. And yeah COD is definitely in my editing roots. I did try to make it a bit flashy to stand out amongst the other edits that didn't use vfx.
DorianFI kinda figured, thats how i learned as well, great community for learning the programs. ski editing is quite different from cod editing though.
for starters the audience is a LOT more mature - which is why i shoot skiing now instead of cod
People like the storyline and simplicity. Its all about smooth footage with clear audio and a color correction that keeps all the details.
