BenWhiti find myself kind of agreeing. last season, the plot lot was genuinely interesting. as the case progressed, i was trying to solve the murders on my own. every time they followed a lead, i was speculating as to its legitimacy. this season is playing too much on the shock factor. They're relying on the big, shocking, exciting scenes to drive our perception of the show. I don't know how much worse this season is, but I do know it's different. I'm not following the plot or the case at all. I find myself following the action.
.MASSHOLE.1.Is Colin Ferrell going to change?
2.What is Taylor Kitsch hiding?
.MASSHOLE.I find myself trying to follow the character arcs more. Is Colin Ferrell going to change? What is Rachel McAdams end play? What is Taylor Kitsch hiding? Who could be challenging Vince Vaughn's empire?
BenWhit1. He lost his son. He hardly wants to live. He's a dirty cop. He's an alcoholic. He'll change, but only for this investigation.
2. He committed war crimes under the direction of his superiors in the military. He's dabbled in some gay stuff. He's over compensating by getting married.
I just find this season hard to follow.

CliffyByroi feel your constant comparing of the two series might spoil your enjoyment a bit, just keep them separate. they're not meant to be similar.
BatemanHeya you american folks, when does the new episode air? and how long until i can find it up on thepiratebay?
belden...THIS Stop comparing! They're completely different, I see so much hate on this season because it's to hard to follow or (if you guy read kfc on barstool) there are too many cheesy stupid 1 liners or some shit like this: http://mashable.com/2015/07/13/true-detective-episode-4/
Here's a thought just fucking put down your phones or laptops listen to the dialog (something that has been seemingly way to quiet and worth a complaint), pay attention and stop comparing everything to fucking mcConaughey (WHO"S ROLE WAS COMPLETELY MADE UP OF STUPID FUCKING 1 LINERS).
This rant was by no means directed at anyone in this thread, this just seemed a good place to rant about the stupidity of bloggers I continue to read..
So the motorcycle guy, after his confrontation with that other dude he worked with at Black Mtn...I don't know if I misinterpreted what the other guy said but it sounds like they had a gay moment...
Anyways the show is developing nicely. Starting to get a good read on the characters.
Vaughn-Criminal with a moral code and sense of right and wrong
Farrell-Detective at the end of his rope, thinking he's starting to want to solve the case. at least for himself.
McAdams-No clue on her yet. She's not hard charging, but not completely mellow. She knows Farrell is corrupted but doesnt seem to care. Very lax at the moment.
Motorcycle dude- Obvious fucked up past in the military (or private contracting), has terrible relationships, seems very interested in the case
Still not far enough in to really formulate any theories but if season 2 stays true to season 1 than Im sure we have already been given hints.
CliffyByroso is colin farrell definitely not the kids dad? or is that still disputed? i heard the black female detective say there was a dna match with the rapist and the kid but when ray was talking to his ex-wife i got the impression she didn't know that.
is that because they're holding information from her or did i just mis-hear?
Monsieur_PatateI think the dna match was between the rapist and the rape kit, nothing to do with the kid.
theBearJewTrying not to read any of the the thread, watched the first episode of the season, confused and didnt like it. Havnt seen another episode, is it worth watching them?
Please no spoilers in your reply, quote me so I see the alert.

.MASSHOLE.People seem to hate it, I personally enjoy it. It is a little more predictable this season, but it is worth a watch considering not many other good shows are on TV right now (save Mr. Robot)
BenWhitShit just got fuckin real.
eheathUhhh wtf just went down. This last epsiode is gonna be fucked
BenWhitI've been waiting for Frank to do that, and it was amazing. he's like a lion backed into a corner, reverting back to what made him who he is. It's going to be very fun to watch in the finale. I feel bad for people who wrote the show off in the first two episodes, because the show is lightyears better than i anticipated.
Woodrough is a fucking badass. Poor guy caught the short-end of the deal.
I have been patiently waiting to see some McAdams titty. I feel cheated.
cobra_commanderThis season sucks
eheathJust because it wasn't as good as season 1 doesn't make it bad
BenWhitI could not be more disappointed with how Frank died. I really wanted him to make it out alive, but his pride was ultimately what did him in.
johnnyBuzIt wasn't pride. He had $3 million worth of diamonds stashed in his suit coat which the Mexican gangsta wanted. Without that he had nothing.

CirilloShould've stashed them in his butthole.

Mod_Danewhat, in the fuck, did you think they were going to do after they took his suit? Frank lost, it was his pride. He was going to die with or without the suit.
johnnyBuzIt looked to me like they were going to leave him in the desert until he made the comment "What, a million dollars doesn't buy you a ride back into town?"
Then, the underling told the head guy that he wanted his suit and that's what led to his demise. So it wasn't really pride, it was just him being a smart ass.
eheathThey were not gonna give him a ride back, are you kidding me? He was MILES into the desert, he was doomed to die from the time they jacked his car.
fillupHe MITGH"VE gotten out of the desert, people have survived some gnarly shit. But if he had given up his suit he would've gotten out with nothing to start over with. The diamonds were in his suit which was the only capital he had left.
cobra_commanderThe only thing that I thought would happen that didn't was Rachel McAdams getting tossed off that boat 30 miles out to sea.
Granite_StateNot to mention the boat would have still left without him.
Knew pretty early on in the ep. that Vaugh and Farrell weren't gonna make it. Not sure how I felt about the finale. This season seemed a lot more straight forward than the last one which is disappointing. Oh well, still was really enjoyable and better than most garbage shows out there nowadays. Curious to see if there will be season 3, and if so, where it will be and where it will take us.
