I have noticed that Batalla's park ski tip shape is different then the tip shape of your traditional park ski. Why is this and what are the pros and cons?
No significant gains, although some will probably try to argue that it either more/less catchy in crud/on take offs, it's more than likely just hot air.
Its not just batalla. On3p, kitten factory, moment, and more have "square tips". Ive heard people say that they feel more aware of the ends of the skis if its a square tip. Also, some claim that its better swing weight. Personally it looks cool and feels nice for grabs.
cant say much for the rest of the ski (sidewall and construction) but the tips are different. this may help for grabs or balancing, i personally havent noticed difference ( i own a pair of filthy riches and moment vices) havent buttered the filthys like crazy but they might help and for the moments they are a pretty stiff ski so its hard to butter in general. this being said maybe its something to set their skis apart from the crowd, if you notice these are all relatively small companies although on3p is growing fast. maybe its a style thing cause moment and batalla seem to have some different graphics that look "different" than every other k2 and volkl skis. just saying any attention brought to these companies is probably good. just food for thought
