Today I rear ended someone in the school parking lot. Thankfully, i was going maybe 10mph so no one was hurt. The bumper of his truck (it's a Chevy kind of beater truck) is dented in. I drive a VW Passat Wagon and my front is kinda fucked. The air conditioning popped, which I thought was the radiator so I'm thankful it wasn't. All the plastic is gone in the front and the hood is a little smashed in. I know it's not very bad and I'm glad nothing too bad happened, but I'm shaken and stressed. I've been having a really shitty month so far and this really hit me upside the head. Anyone know how to shake this feeling??
are you covered under your parents with insurance? with a claim I had to do earlier in the year, the insurance company basically told me to draw a diagram of the situation, asked me who I felt was at fault, and then they went from there and decided who is at fault and stuff like that. it typically gets sorted out pretty nice if you are covered, id just talk to your parents and see how they typically go about these things with the type of coverage they have and stuff.

yeah we're fully covered. I just feel really bad about it for my parents because times are tough at my house right now and God only knows how much our insurance will go up and its hard for me to get hours at my job right now. it's safe to say I hate life right now
El_Barto.NS will cure all your problems. Just pretend NS is real life only way better with very minimal rules and consequences
haha that's good advice but that's pretty much what I've been doing for the past couple of weeks. like I said I'm not sure why but life is real shitty for me lately
I'd start by kicking your car where you messed it up, since you really can't mess it up more. being violent towards expensive things always makes me feel a bit better.
Then you're in college... so go find someone to casually procreate with (protected of course).
Then read some articles on the Libyan civil war that's going on and realize you're damn lucky you weren't born there. I feel like Libya is really good at putting things into perspective.

I kicked the shit out of my car when it happened but I was wearing rubber boots and it was raining so I probably just looked really stupid. Also I'm in high school so casually procreating is not something I want to do with any of these idiots here
id do things to take my mind off of things. such as skiing but seeing as thats not an option work on some art, or write down all the things that make u happy in life or what u have thats good for u right now such as ur health, ur not in war riddled country, or that ur a girl on NS and that basically makes u a unicorn or some crazy ass cool shit.
I know that feel. You just gotta find something to get your mind off of it and it'll be good soon. A couple years ago someone blew a stop sign and my dad t-boned them. I had taken my seat belt off to put my ski boots on(yeah I'm dumb, i know) and I ended up being thrown into the windshield. It's definitely scary, and for a little while I didn't wanna get into a car like ever again. I got over it after a little while though and you will too. Just gotta give it time and get your mind off of it. These things happen. Just gotta be happy it wasn't any worse(: love ya savvyyy!

love you Ming ❤️❤️ Hope to see you again sometime this summer
just gotta keep remembering that anything that most if not all your problems right now are only temporary. everything will eventually blow over and the best time of your life is right ahead of you. also try to remember to not worry about the little things or take yourself too seriously. the best decision i've made in my life so far was to stop giving a shit and i suggest you do the same.
If it makes you feel any better A rock came off of a cliff and hit my VW. I was left with a piece of rubble till someone bought it from me for the engine(I think it was sitting in my parents driveway for a year or two before I finally sold it).
Pics:
Insurance didn't cover it(in hind sight now that I think of it I had gone into a ditch before that left a little bit of marks on my bumper and might have looked like to the insurance company that I hit the rock and made me not covered.). Reason insurance didn't cover it was because I had comprehensive, but I didn't have collision. They said I hit the rock therefore didn't cover anything.
well If you dont want insurance to go up you can cover his damage out of pocket. This would best be done by visiting a some shops with him to get quotes to make sure you get the best deal. And for your car you could take it to the shop and pay out of pocket, or you could just drive it if possible. or find a friend who can help you repair it. I was rallying a couple weeks ago and clipped a log on a switchback. fucked up my rear panels. paid about $150 for bondo and paint, 30 hours of work later looks like new.

only reason insurance agencies are profitable is because they find every way to screw you out of your money
If it makes you feel any better about 4 weeks ago was in my grandparents brand new Toyota seqouia bought 3 hours earlier. We where driving through a stop light we had green light some guy in a dodge 1500 truck tboned us which rolled the car and totaled it. Most screwed up part is the guy who hit us claims that we ran the red light despite the multiple witnesses(there was like 20 people that saw this happen) that said it was his fault. So now we are having to fight it even though the police report clearly says it was his fault and not ours.
And as far as coping with it just try not to think about get real into school work, listening to music, making music, netflix, just anything maybe try and pick up a new hobby.
Bent metal, that can be fixed. It's why insurance exists. Get over it. You're in HS? You got plenty of mistakes to make ahead of you, so have a good cry, go shout at your parents for a few minutes, hug them, then get back to studying.
The world doesn't hate you, and it doesn't revolve around you. There are 50,000 people just in the US that had a much worse day than you did.
savvy_skijust got an estimate on my car of $3000. insurance is only making us pay $250 but it'll go up in august...
Check how much your insurance rate will go up and see how long it will take before you pay $2750. Although I guess you already notified them so they'll probably raise it anyway, but at your age the spiked rates sometimes make it worth it to just suck it up and pay for the repair. But it is a very expensive repair
Just relax(: I'm sorry that you've been having a bad month. If it makes you feel any better, I just failed a test that I studied for twice in a row. So you know. Just relax, go skiing. It's not always as bad as it seems! I know this may sound weird too, but if you never need to talk about anything, I'm sure people on NS would be more than understanding.
-emile-how bad of a driver do you have to be to rear end someone ? were you texting or something ?
momsspaghettiding ding ding
no I wasn't texting. I was waiting to pull out behind a line of cars and he slammed the breaks and I wasn't paying enough attention to stop fast enough. it happens to a lot of people...I'm not a bad driver because of it YA STUPID ASSHOLE it's a common mistake

I hit a patch of ice two winters ago and slid into a rock going 10mph and fucked my car so bad. It was one of those things where I was just being stupid about my driving and it sucked so bad. Had that feeling for a while but sitting outside and listening to across the universe always helps me when I'm in a mood.
