TheWakes.i have spent a lot of time on both this season. I have a 178 al dente and a 176 kartel 98. i am 5'9" 140
The kartel, with the tail rocker, does feel a lot shorter. for skiing softer snow in tight trees they were good because of the quick turn and the flex, which was pretty soft. easy to butter. they did feel short to me on jumps (its a lot of rocker for hard snow, if its soft they were better), but i did like them on rails. very light. also very durable. not much of a charger tho at that length for me. i prefer my 181 jeffery for that type of skiing.
I have had my dentes for 2 seasons. i prefer them on jumps to the kartel mostly because of the cambered tail. while the dentes are soft, i found that to make them very forgiving, but i am a light skier. as an all mountain ski, i like the dentes in slush and light powder. if it was heavier deep snow, the full sidewall kartel ws better. most fun ski to butter. they are the lightest park skis I've owned. after two seasons i did beat them up pretty good tho. if u are normally very heavy on your skis when landing on rails and constantly bash edges in, i would look elsewhere. as an all mountain ski, i like the dentes in slush and light powder. if it was heavier deep snow, the full sidewall kartel was better.
my preference between the two was kartel for all mountain and al dente for park. hope this helps.
Duckonquackaldentes are gonna be pretty stiff compared to the aldentes
