I haven't yet found one that you couldn't get off with the use of hot water or a hair dryer. Anything with a glue is usually heat activated, so you can heat em up (hot water, hair dryer) and they slide right off! After just heat it up again and slide em on. Maybe there are brands out there that aren't possible to get off, but I cant imagine how they would be attached. Most ski shops will also chop poles to length for you (and most will do it for free if you purchase the poles from them).

My poles all around for riding park, glades, and backcountry standing next to me go about to my waist. You can go lower than that if you ride more park. I wouldn't go higher. I have gone higher and hit my chin with the pole. If you are thinking just park, try no poles. Usually if I go to say mount snow, I use poles just because I like going in the glades and slopes besides park even though the park there is amazing. If I'm skiing at my home mountain however, I don't always use poles since the trails suck and I end up riding park. Poles give a chance of spearing yourself too often if you're just riding park. Poles do however help balance on rails in a way. It's your preference however.

And no you don't need to chop poles at all. You can easily find a size that fits you. It also depends on your age and such. You're going to end up growing and probably will keep poles for a couple of seasons. I'd say maybe go a little higher than waist so when you grow, your poles don't seem incredibly short.

Trust me. There are plenty of poles where they are not removable haha. Where I work we sell plenty in that fashion as we cut them for people constantly.

I'm confused... you say you cut ones that can't have the grip removed for people? Seems contradictory

What are you guys talking about all grips come off on the poles. It's only glue, they're not welded on jeez. All you have to do if they don't come off is boil a pot of water, and stick the poles in with grips. That helps to melt the plastic inside and melt the bond of the glue with plastic. You don't use an airdryer because that would take to long and you'll end up melting the plastic anyways. If you go to your ski shop, I gurantee they'll give you the right pole size. I put bike grips on a pole and they were nice but I would never do it again. Poles come and go they break, bend and you end up buying new poles anyways. If they don't fit your height or you don't like them, bring them back to your local ski shop and I'm sure they'll set you up.

dosent matter the length buy some new poles and cut them down half inch by half inch until it feels perfect, remember! you can always cut more off but you cant put it back on! btw if your rental shop has poles just take some and use em for a bit they wont mind. at my shop we have poles that go down and up by 5 so you if yours is anything like mine you will find the relatively perfect match
