Jay skis or armadas + different bindings

So there's a couple things I want to go over. First off whats better for my riding style? I feel jay skis have usually a wider waist than armadas. I want a ski that is wide enough so I can go backcountry but also hit some park. I also don't want a really stiff pair of skis. I ride k2 kung Fujus right now and I love them but they're so beaten, had them for 3 years. Then I want to ask about the bindings. I say some axials the other day when I went to jay peak Vermont and they looked nice and very sturdy construction. I wondering in your guys preference. What is better? Jay skis or armadas? Look pivots(fks same binding), axials, or jester pros. I buying new gear this year and I'm looking into that for next season. My din is around a 9.5 and I want 178s or around there I'm like 5'9" weigh 166

Well... you really can't compare two brands...

I can't speak for Armada's, nor can I compare the two brands, but the J Skis Allplay are really nice, and I've heard great things about The Friend. I own a pair of Whipits, and I've ridden a pair of Allplays. Quality skis.

Need some more information if you want someone to tell you about a good ski that fits you.

I can tell you guys I've been skiing my whole life and have been skiing park 5 years now. I do more rail tricks like 450s out, frontswaps, Kfeds, blind swaps all that stuff. What I'm trying to say is I need a ski that is rugged and can't take a beating on rails where I truly beat on my skis. Before I had masterminds and I snapped them on a rail so I don't want that to happen again. I also want a ski that I can take in the glades because the kung fujus were a mix of both what I wanted. Flexible enough for glades but built for rails. I'd show a pic of the bottoms of them to show how much I beat on rails. I Would classify myself as intermediate on jumps can 3, 5 switch 3, but on rails, not expert but pretty pro at them. Glades I'm expert on so that's me for skiing.

Well I can tell you that the J Skis all play fits in what you are looking for. Has a 98 waist width so it can ski in variable conditions but still slays the park. J skis is super high quality at a decent price. It does has some rocker in the tip and tail but is full camber underfoot and is a sturdy ski. I would definetly check it out, but don't limit your options to just J skis and Armada, there a bunch of companies that offer what you are looking for such as ON3P and the Kartels

im normally one to hate on armada... but my friend got some 2014 magic js and center mounted them. he let me ride them and i really loved them for jibbing and a little charging. very stable even at a center mount

J Skis Allplay would also work, Armada's Arv is really the only "One ski Quiver" ski they have, definitely check out other brands like the ON3P Kartel or K2 Shreditor 102 as mentioned above

I have ridden Armada for the past 2 seasons on the AR7 and the Halo 2 and i have loved both and will continue buying! i am not sure about "j" skis but i have heard nothing but good things!

Do not waste your money on axials! I had a pair for a while and they held up well for a very short time, and then they started to fall apart... Both heel pieces got super loose so my boot slid side to side as well as up and down. Prereleased all the time, and yes my forward pressure was correct and DIN was at 9 and would release for no reason at all. I also ripped the break off and it was completely unusable. I decided to try a pair of FKS 140s and loved them, I now have them on different pairs of skis and have never had any issues. I don't know much about armadas or J skis but I have a pair of Line Sir Francis Bacons and they are awesome all over the mountain. By far my favorite ski I've ever ridden

i agree with this, especially the armada ARV. i used them and only them for years on everything from park rat days to pow to charging. i beat the hell out of them and they lasted forever. theyre soft but J skis seem to all be noodles, so stiffer than that, plus now there's the ARVti which is a little stiffer and damper due to a layer of metal

i also hear only good things about the kartel (esp in one ski quiver discussions) but i havent ridden them so i can't help much there

as for bindings, pivots/FKSs are the bread and butter binding of park/freeride skiers and are almost universally loved. the axials and equivalents are (in my opinion) their sorta retarded brother that just isn't quite as good. they tried to replace the pivots/FKSs with the axials for a couple years and had to bring em back due to popular demand. and in my limited experience axials seem to be just as heavy but without the stellar consistent performance of pivots/FKSs

im biased but ive never liked the marker bindings much

Exactly but I heard k2 isn't as good as they use to be since bought by line.

I always thought line bought them because they're so highly manufactured and well known. All I ever see is line skis or k2s at the ski shops. I never see any other brand more than those two. The k2s I had were nice but I don't want another cap construction ski really, I want a sidewalk construction so my eve can but better as well and so far, I ve seen the allplay has that. My friend has a pair of allplays and a pair of armadas and said j skis are so much better. Although he did have the codas then.

lol dude i had a pair of k2 presses last me almost 4 seasons. I sold them this year and they held up so well for the time i had them.


Honestly J skis arent the most durable skis on the market..like at all lol..

Just because a brand is small doesn't mean it's the most durable shit in the world

From what I understand a larger company owns K2 along with other ski and snowboard related companies and they now own line. I really dont think this changes anything about their quality. I am a big fan of K2 and I have always had great luck with their skis. I know this site is a little polarized about K2, and I think most of it comes from the fact that their skis are made in China (or at least the bases are), but in my experience they have always been great.

first off jester pros are way overkill, youll be wasting your money and increse your chances of destroying your knee. go griffons if you like marker, even jesters would be a bit much. cant say much about the axial but if i were you i would go griffons or fks 140

I have not road any of the skis you are interested in so can't speak to their merits.

With bindings the Pivot/FKS are the upgraded version of the Axials so dont waste your time with axials as the heal piece piece is not as good.

Since you run you din about 9.5 I would say the Jester pro is a waste of your money. They are an excellent binding but a waste since you run at 9.5

I would recommend you go with the Pivot/Fks 14s as they are the best binding and the safest for your dollar out of the ones you are interested.

Exactly, I pretty much destroyed the edge on my twisters this season. Granted I spent a lot of time disatering rails, but the edge underfoot pretty much disentigrated and delamed, not super impressed.
