People assume I snowboard

Mostly everyone in my life knows that I ski (maybe not...) because I talk about winter and skiing all the time and post about it frequently. Yet somehow whenever anyone outside my ski friends talks to me about it, they're like "Yeah so you snowboard right?" And God knows how many times I remind them that I ski they still say... "Oh yeah, that's right! You're a skier." And then the inevitable... "Do you use poles?"..... -.- I'm assuming this is happening to more than just me?

I've had the cashier in the cafeteria at Nashoba ask me how I could go in the park because they're only for snowboarders :/

Once I was writing a paper about skiing and in the introduction I said how I was a skiier and all the background info and shit. But in the second paragraph I started talking about park skiing and she got really confused because she thought I was talking about snowboarding and gave me a really shitty grade

When I talk to people who can't rap their brain around it I just tell them i do snowboard things on skis. Its pretty damn crazy though... skiers have been slidin rails for like 20 years now... you'd think the general public would know a little something at least.

It happened to me at work all the time(I was a lifty). I was new this year so I was trying to get to know everyone and stuff. Everyone would say "Oh you ski? You come across like you snowboard." and when I would ask why they would say something along the lines of what I wear looks like something a snowboarder would. But I wore a level 1 hoodie and armada pants everyday lol. I don't think an average person realizes there are park skiers out there.

I also had a conversation with Mr.Bishop and was told that ski outerwear and styles are influenced by snowboarding from 2 years prior to being sold. So its possible that skiers resemble what snowboarders looked like 2 years ago? That could explain it. Or its just other people not knowing haha.

Yeah I have snowboards, one for each foot with the bindings mounted forward. Its a lifestyle choice.

i have a decent amount of ski clips on my ig and this one girl gave me a tbh and it said "you're really good at snowboarding!!" and left her number. needless to say i never texted it

Just spent a week snowboarding in Pas De La Casa (Andorra) and the skiers were slaying it in the park compared to the boarders. Its one of the reasons I let my friend convince me to swap to skiing for a day and I loved it. Can already do more tricks on skis than on my board, even though the last time i skiid i was like 6 haha.

I have had the opposite happen to me occasionally, I'll be showing my friend a video of someone skiing park and they'll mention someone else who skis and go
"Oh are they good at doing tricks too?"
"No they just ski the mountain"
"Well that's stupid why the hell would they do that?"
"I dunno because it's fun?"
"That seems boring as hell just going straight down a fucking mountain"
I usually give up at this point because no one is able to comprehend anything past that question

Everyday I go skiing i walk past my neighbors house. Sometimes he is out pushing snow etc. and we chat a bit. I have my skis with me and he can definetly see them. But still he thinks i snowboard. I dont really mind that because he is chill and genuinely interested though.

That reminds me of a math problem on my test yesterday.

"A skier decides to go through the park early january 2016.The skier heads into a jump at 41mph. There is a light tailwind of approx 6 mph. The clothing you're wearing on the inrun is 2 years out of style. When you pop you launch into a future spin with a mute grab.

This is what I do too and people are STILL too dumb to figure it out. I was talking to an old friend on xbox literally today and I told him I do rails and jumps on skis. About 10 minutes later he said something about how I snowboard.

In the Midwest if some one asks you if your a snow boarder or skier you have to explain that you ski in the snow board park and do the trick...But seriously thou I actually have to.

This surprises me at my mountain. Because our most used lifts go right above terrain parks, and they all have an equal skier snowboarder ratio. But I say I'm a park or freestyle skier on the lift and they give me a weird look.

Finally I have found another Illinois skier/boarder. I ski snowstar a lot but never see anyone post about it.

I have two home mountains since I live equidistant between them. I ski hidden valley Missouri and snowstar. It's a bitch of a drive to go skiing but I'll do it about once a week in the winter.

Try being a manager at Zumiez and being a skier... I had a customer refuse to let me sell him goggles because i skied..no joke... I'm probably the most knowledgeable person in my store about winter gear. the local mountain i ski at is probably 95% snowboarders too (at least in the park) 60% on mountain, mostly gapers and whenever i ski there i always get the weirdest looks its the best.
