Just got out of the midnight showing, god damn that ending was enough to make a grown man cry. Sucks to think that Paul isn't alive anymore.
On another note, no FUCKING WAY would vin diesel have lived that car crash from the parking garage, and if he did live he would be in a wheel chair in a best case scenario. For him to be walking normally on the beach was frustrating. But thats the thing about action movies you cannot look very far into them.
Overall it was worth the watch just for that montage at the end. The first movie still goes down at the best one in my opinion. The series went in such a different direction by the end with all the heists and stunts and shit.
The first one was definitely the best only because it was captivating. But IMO, and it probably because I like drifting and tuner cars, tokyo drift is my second.
A few flaws, not so accurate engine sounds for the cars, cars changing into their other trims and some other easy to spot things...I teared up a bit at the end with the 2 guys left the theater hopped into my car and in all honestly broke down for about 30 seconds..Overall, still a bit to unrealistic but better than 5 and 6.
I mean come on, just from the trailer it looks fucking stupid as hell just like the rest.
After the first couple movies it wasn't really about the content. Obviously movies have stupid plots with unrealistic plots.
The Fast and Furious franchise gave car enthusiasts something to feel connected to through Paul and the styles going on in the movie. For example Neon and all that shit was cool when the first 3 came out. It gave a really cool insight into car scenes and the bond people have with their vehicle.
SO when I saw the end I was stoked to see one of Paul's personal cars in the film. There is nothing more enjoyable than being in your car and cruising through some open roads.

Was it, though? I mean come on... Neon was the stancenation or the spinna rims of the day... stupid ass trend that nobody who actually gave a crap about the drivability of their cars would have ever installed. That late 90's douchy style was disgusting haha.

first, if you think "stance" is just a trend then I hate to tell you you are sorely mistaken. It's become more mainstream the last decade or so, but oni-kyan and vip-styled cars have been around for decades and those styles of car modification aren't going anywhere
same goes for neon and that whole "90s look," while I'm not a huge fan of it on today's cars, it definitely still has a place in car culture. every major show and shine I attend has plenty of those over-the-top airbrushed paint jobs, neon lights, and crazy ass "aero" kits that you'd see in these movies.
I guess what I'm saying is that I disagree, and I think the F&F franchise both influenced car culture and brought it to mainstream media, and that's awesome
Paul Walker was definitely one of, if not the most influential person when it came to popularizing tuner cars
I guess what i'm pissed off about is that this stupid stancing and throwing 57 subwoofers into your car and airbrushing lesbian sex on the hood and shit absolutely ruins perfectly fantastic cars... When I see someone buy a stock E30 and stance it out and ruin it.. it drives me nuts because just as many people wish they could take a stickshift 88 E30 and run it stock the way it should have been... or at least iMPROVE on it, if anything.. rather than ricing it out.
With something like a lowrider? That's a little different. Those cars originally weren't made to corner or have any performance-related anything. They were made for cruising and being showy in the first place... a 64 impala isn't made to hit an apex. It's supposed to drive down the main street on a friday night. If anything, throwing hydros on one of those is actually improving that aspect.
I guess where I'm coming from is... would you think Uncle Enzo or Senore Ferruccio would approve of what the owners have done to either of these cars?
I'd have my doubts... in fact I'd say they'd be pissed off and roll around in their graves 5 or 6 times.
I understand car culture, and the idea of creating a work of art out of your car... but when you follow what everyone else is doing and do it to the wrong fucking car, you're an asshole and that shit ain't art nor creative.
Do: create a purrari like Deadmau5 did - because lolz and creative.
Don't: stance out another V3 STI or 89 E30 like everyone else.

I don't know man, you'd be hard pressed to tell me that stanced e30s can't get sideways...
then there's the vip crowd which has been around forever
contrary to popular belief, us "stance" kids don't build our cars with the intention of making a piece of art or to follow some trend, it's just the way we choose to mod our cars. And if you think oni-kyan doesn't have a place in motorsports I don't know what to tell you. not everyone builds their car for autocross, or for drifting, some of us mod our cars for the simple reason that it's what we love. that's why I have a fitted car, I've been with my "stanced" ride for four seasons now, and I love how the build is progressing
people just seem to get mad for the sake of getting mad lol, let people do what they please with their car
weird how you think throwing cats and rainbows and shit all over a stock ferrari would make the family proud but throwing it on air suspension with wide wheels would somehow upset them lol
The purrari is trollin to troll. That shit is hilarious and I love it. It's like an art-car of sorts, and it's done in a ridiculously well-done fashion. Enzo is squirlling around in his grave with that for sure, but at the same time, it's not just the same crap everyone is doing, and it's not done with the 'idea' that you're improving the car in any way. It's just like when the dudes on MCM brought a golf down to bare metal, rusted it out, threw some crazy steelies on it, and then covered a quarter panel in mache manga book pages. Then took it to a honda meet for the lulz. That shit's for the fun, not for the flash.
on the contrary, Slamming a car so low it can't exit a drive thru at a taco bell or tweaking the caster and camber so much that the car's riding on 10% of the tire? and then thinking it's 'dope'? That shit's just ridiculous all the way around as far as I'm concerned.
I mean, I get it, complaining about shit that doesn't concern you is pretty petty, and such, but hey... if there's anything I learned from art school and political science, everything and everything is available to be criticized and every asshole has an opinion. Just sharing mine on the subject :)

Even though I disagree with almost everything you're saying, excellent post. Would +k but you're already at 10
Anyway. To share a few things that make me vomit, or laugh because I just don't get how people seriously think this shit is somehow attractive or useful or even safe.
^I mean, I'm pretty sure I saw that same look in that pixar movie "Cars" when a car looked sad and tired..

I agree with you, stance to a certain point is fucking stupid. Track stance or something that at least doesnt cause you to scrape on pebbles is fine. But I just disagree with you about your opinion to the fast and furious series as a car enthusiast.

If you're tossing the camber out for purposes that actually mean something, then I'm not really that much against it... but if you're tweaking that out just to say "oh look how fucking horizontal I can make my wheels look how freakin cool I am" then I really have to question what drugs you're taking haha.
I mean, some cars are so silly that they resemble hovercrafts more than cars.

Yeah its so fucking stupid, I dont care when it comes to old rusty civics since its not gonna be used on a track but if someone dumps an evo with camber and stretched tires with stupid blast pipes the owner should just sell it and do that to a base lancer. Its even more wasteful when its slammed and they build the engine to have 100+hp than stock. Im function over form.
It was kinda cheesy in parts and just tad unrealistic lol. But I gotta say that ending brought tears to my eyes. If I wasn't with a girl would have shed those tears.
RIP Paul, we'll miss Ya
On a side note- does anyone know how much the movie was changed over Pauls death?
just saw it, worst movie in the franchise by far. did fucking michael bay direct it?? its gone from being a car movie to being an cheesy action movie with a couple of cars. and whats the go with throwing casting out the window and filling spots with famous people. it doesnt work? iggy azealia and that rhonda girl wtf? it just look shit.
went in there not expecting much at all and left feeling disappointed because my expectations where too high. and the tribute at the end? come on.. its a movie

I first noticed he looked different in Dubai after the car jumping scene.
Anyone else also love how Hector made it into the movie?

It was over the top obviously and I do wish Justin Lin made this movie and not James Wan. If Iggy was a main character I wouldve been pissed but it doesnt fucking matter she was there for 15 seconds. Also why the hell would you complain about the tribute? Paul is the reason the series is so damn popular. Out of the past 3 movies, fast five was shit fast 6 was over the top and not to good but this was way over the top but still really good, best of last 3 films. I was a little confused and said "what the fuck" in my head but I still loved it and will see it again soon. It hit home a lot and I liked that.

LOL no dude. I get it you love "fast cars" and shit but what someone does with their build is their choice. Just because it is a performance car doesn't mean they have to go out and make it the fastest car on the track. Some people who like performance cars will *gasp* have their own vision on a build.
No one should have to by a different car because they want to put blast pipes and camber....

Im just saying if you buy a 280hp sports sedan with a good drive train and handling but slam it and drive it slow...Whats the point of having lots of power if you scrape all over the place? With something like a evo x vs a lancer gts why buy a car twice the money if youre gonna drop it and have it scrape when you can have a very similar looking car for half the price? I get you can do whatever the fuck you want with your car but with stance, why would you buy a pricey car with pricey maintenance and pricey insurance and only drive it no more than 80mph because youre on stretched tires and low suspension? It doesnt seem practical.
For me it depends on the car. I only shit on stance kids in my area because its new england and every road sucks for even a stock height car.

Well, the thing is...they realized they can make a few hundred million dollars more by not making them very car centric. Each movie has made even more than the last since they became action films. And we're not just talking a few million dollars difference. They have become huge money makers.

your argument doesn't make any sense. if someone can afford an evo, why in the hell would they buy a base lancer just because its slower and shittier?
not everyone has to build a car to go fast on the track, and I find it especially funny when people who do buy base lancers or whatever "build" their car for the track; slap on some bolt-ons with a "custom" aero kit and then proceed to talk shit about stance because are cars are slower
plyswthsqrrlsyour argument doesn't make any sense. if someone can afford an evo, why in the hell would they buy a base lancer just because its slower and shittier?
Because an evo or whatever performance car shouldnt be slammed and if you have something like a lancer, a very similar looking car to an evo it makes more sense to drop that then slam an evo which should be used for its awd and handling not scraping down the streets of LA. Why else would manufacturers pack their cars with powerful engines AND have lower down models, because one should be used for its speed and the lower down model is used for its mpg, reliability etc. Kinda like for example...A Mazda speed 3 vs a Mazda 3..One is powerful and can handle pretty well while the other is slow and not as good. There are many examples of cars that look similar but one of them is slower or faster.
And with some cars you can get the same looking car as its big powerful brother for cheaper and you can spend the money you save on stretched tires, camber gay shit, skid plates, weekly oil pans. Stance kids and non stance kids are both pretty ignorant to each other, Ive argued about stance to much.

It is universal..They love to make box office hits. I still wish Justin Lin did the movies, James Wan did a good job but he is better with movies that leave me awake in fear.
