Tonight was the first time I got pulled over and because a guy that had the right of way at a stop sign waved me through. I took my turn and thought nothing of it and then got pulled over right after. Cop came over and told me to wait my turn then told me I'm free to go.
So a disclaimer, this story happened during the three weeks that I owned this vehicle, which I bought to learn how to drive stick.
I went over to this girl's house for the first time, my GPS fucked up and brought me a little too far down the street so I just parked my car in front of a random house two houses down. I wasn't worried about anyone stealing anything, so I didn't bother locking the car.
Fast forward 3 hours, to about 11pm, I start leaving and walk out of her house to find two police cars with their lights flashing, parked right next to my car. Confused as fuck, I walk up to the police cars to find that no one is inside of them.
At this point I had no idea what the fuck to do, so I just got in my car, fired it up, and started driving away. It was a dead end, so I pulled a Uey and started driving back. As I was driving by the cop cars, I saw an officer running after me flashing his flashlight at me. I quickly stopped, cranked my window down, and he asked me to step out of the car.
I asked him what was going on as another police officer joined us and a K9 unit pulled up to the scene. They asked me what I had been doing and why my car was parked where it was. I told them that I was at so-and-so's house down the street just hanging out and that I just parked it randomly.
They told me that the house I parked in front of got robbed, and because I had such a shitty car in a really nice neighborhood, with the doors unlocked and the lights left on, it made me look very guilty.
They went down to the house to check to make sure my story was true, and then they came back and laughed about it. I finally got to go home after 30 minutes of talking to them.
i got pulled over last night as i was going to pick up my boyfriend because apparently i was drunk driving (i had been sitting at home in my sweatpants and i don't even know the last time i had a drink} and then the officer told me that i threw a cigarette butt out the window (i don't smoke, and i haven't smoked a cigarette in like, 4 years) and then he told me that i had thrown something out the window (my windows were done up and my heat was blasting because i was freezing....) i wasn't even speeding, i was going like 4 over the limit....
he let me go and was like "okay, next time just drive more carefully...."
Doesn't mean they won't treat you differently for having it. However I paid my dues with one sitting on my windshield, but I was also going 30 over and he still knocked it down by 10 mph on the ticket. Didn't even mention the dar.
Yeah, but I didn't even have one to begin with. His tail lights and randomly pulling over for no reason were dead giveaways, lol. I don't know how he didn't realize that.
Granite_StateCops pulls me over in VT, I am an NH resident...
Cop: "License, registration, and proof of insurance"
Me: "Here's my license and registration, I don't have insurance because I live in NH and it is not required"
Cop: "Well it is required in VT. And it's also illegal to have air freshners hanging from your rear view mirror"
Me: (takes down air freshener) "Sorry officer I had no idea (who the fuck would?)"
Then I get the whole ordeal about how he smeels alcohol on me and my friends, asked to step out of the vehicle, and made to take a breathalizer (which I pass). Then Im asked to find someone else to drive me home, which I refuse, and am sent back to my car where I wait for over 30 minutes. Finally...
Cop: "Ok so I pulled you over for an obstructed license plate (clear cover with SLIGHT dirt on it) and the air freshener".
(Hands me $500 in tickets)
Cop: "So sorry to let you leave early (the fucking nerve on this guy) but I have another call."
Me: "Thank you sir. May I get your name?"
(Gives name. I shake his hand)
(Guy pieces it).
Worst experience I've ever had with a cop and worst reason to ever be pulled over. I have the story posted in some other thread floating around here.
did that happen to be in the town of chester vt? or ludlow? cause I used to live there and those cops will try and bust u for just about anything and everything. and the air fresheners isn't true, I've had my goggles hanging from there and I know other people who've had other stuff as well. but yeah the insurance thing is one of the things vt cops love to get people for.

I made a left turn in an empty grocery store parking lot where there was a no left turn sign so I wouldn't have to drive all the way around the lot to get to a point 20 feet to my left. The cop was evidently waiting just out of sight for somebody to do that, but he said he couldn't legally give me a ticket for it since it wasn't actually on a road. Idiot just wasted like 20 minutes of my time over a bullshit sign while somebody somewhere was getting raped

OregonDeadI got pulled over for honking. Cop looked pissed and and told me how he hated honking. I just responded that I was honking at another driver and wanted the other driver to hear me. The cop went on to lecture me about how he wasn't the only person that hates honking and how I better not honk in a big city or risk getting shot. After his lecture he just walked back to his car and drove away. He never accused me of any sort of violation or anything.

To which I responded, "driver's ed isn't mandatory and I didn't take it." And he just laughed, handed me my ticket, and walked away.
Forgot about this story, not necessarily pulled over but same idea.
My friend and I are 16 and we snuck out and took her dad's car to go to a party in another town (badass I know) but we get totally lost so we pull into the parking lot of a closed McDonalds. We were just chillin there with one of the lights on inside the car and out of nowhere there are 4 cop cars blocking us into our parking space. The cops make us all get out of the car and sit on the curb while its absolutely freezing while they shine flashlights in our faces and interrogate us on why we are out past curfew. They then scream at my friend until she breaks down and they call her dad to come pick us up.
All this went down in Westport and anyone who knows anything about Westport knows that the cops there are the biggest ass wads.

i also got pulled over AND got a ticket for going 40 in a 25. I get it, it's 15 mph over, but lets count how many other people go a lot faster than that at any given time in any 25 mph zone. This guy was just being a dick and i did NOT have the means to pay that ticket at that time.

Just because you got a ticket doesn't mean there's a law though. Technically it should but it doesn't necessarily.
I've been pulled over 75-100 times (I drive 35-40k a year, and always speed). I'd say the dumbest reason is obviously just for the sake of being on the road at 1-2AM. Understandable, they are just going for DUI's but that is the dumbest.
Except for when I got my DUI. I quit drinking hours before because I was driving (too late apparently). Anyways, I gave one kid a ride home. Came back downtown around bar close to get the rest of my friends, they were hanging out with some black dude I never met. This black dude was getting in an argument with somebody as my friends were getting into my car. I told him to get in because I had no idea who he was and if he didn't I was gonna leave him. He got in and I got pulled over a block or two down. Cop says his reason to stop me was to see what the confrontation was all about, but he didn't even talk to the guy his focus was all on me. I was drunk, whatever, but I asked him why he pulled me over and that was the reason. No speeding, swerving, blown stops or anything, so I call RACISM!

He then punched it and took off. Mind you I was still doing about 80. Happened just this morning.

how does that justify it? Most of these reasons are pretty far fetched, but you chose to drive too fast then you must be prepared to pay the ticket if you get caught, by your logic I can go shoplift because there are so many people doing it.. I sucks that it happened when you couldn't pay it, but that's not really the cops fault

yep the police should let you out of a ticket for going way over the speed limit because you cant afford it.

DavinVergennes cops are fucking assholes. My mom was doing 50 in a 45 and got a ticket for it. She hadn't gotten a ticket since she was 17.... Like really?
The worst. Everyone from the area that I've talked to says they are the worst in the Champlain valley.
A cop told me he smelled some weed coming from my car. It was like midnight I just bought the new COD at the time(I think it was black ops). The thing was he was in a car with the windows rolled up pretty sure he just profiled me or pulled me over for no reason until he got to my car and made up a reason. so, I gave him the little bag of weed because I was like fuck it whatever not like he can do anything it was only a gram might have even been under. He probably could smell it in my car and there was only a gram so it didn't even bother me. I had more weed at home. haha
One thing still makes me angry was when he held it up and he was like "oh yah, about 3 grams" I thought that was bullshit, but whatever he probably just wanted to get high. I told him I had work early in the morning, and I just wanted to go home because I got a new game. Cop let me off and just took my weed. Mainly pissed me off that he pulled me over for a bullshit reason. I could have fought it, but I just wanted to go home blaze and play some games before going to bed. I didn't even get a ticket or anything.

its that slow for a reason. and going 15 over in a zone that purposely has that low of a speed limit definitely will hurt hurt that kid trying to cross the street.

Good. Learn to fucking drive. IF you aren't passing people stay to the right. People driving in the left lane are what causes all kinds of traffic jams. Nothing like being in the right lane of 4 lanes and going faster than everyone in the left 3 lanes because they're all fucking morons and piled into the left to.

I do. A lot of places they don't match the traffic patterns. Most are too low, some are too high.
Especially on freeways. It makes no sense to have a road that isn't crowded, 2 lanes each direction, straight as fuck, 55.
I don't really speed. Def don't speed in the slower zones. I don't get people that go 40-45 through towns with all kind of shit going on, people crossing the street etc. That's where you'll get a ticket as well.
Idk. I wished they focused more on idiot driver than speeders but it's about the easy $ not about safety. Same with drugs. Why solve real crimes when you can bust people for drugs?
Got pulled over for driving 35 in a 25...or what was a 25 a quarter mile ago. Listen to long lecture, point out I am in 35. Then issue becomes driving with one hand. Aparently that is completely reckless and could be ticketed but good guy Greg the officer says he let me off the hook, for something that doesn't exist.
Been pulled over 6 times. All warnings.
1. Speeding (school zone)
2. No reason (he said suspicious driving)
3. No inspection sticker (bought the truck a week ago)
4. Speeding
5. Speeding
6. Expired inspection (4 months overdue)
