So, this is a forum for any questions about hair and stuff...


I'm dyeing my hair on Friday to platinum blonde, and I have these real hair extensions and I want to bring them in to get dyed as well. I called and the woman said she didn't know about the pricing if it would go up drastically with the extensions or not. Do any of you know?

I've never had extensions but I'm assuming if there's more hair = more time and then boom, more money.

I just read an article a few days ago about how to prep your hair for going platinum and how you need to do it days in advance or you're truly ruining your hair. I'd link it here but I'm on mobile so forgive me

I've been dyeing my hair for 11 years now, if you being in extensions that aren't already dyed to the shade you're getting it's gonna cost you more. Typically more dye = more money

Some places have a flat rate however, in which case it's just gonna run you her normal rate. It really depends on the stylist!

There are so many questions you need to answer in order to get a good response:

What color is your hair right now? Is it colored? and if it has been colored then was it box dye or professionally done?

Are the extensions real hair or synthetic? What color are they? and have they ever been dyed?

I highly suggest getting lots of small highlights rather than dying your whole head, or else your hair will be orange and yellow

when i died my hair it was highlights. and it was 120$ for a full head, whereas a full dyed head was 80$. it depends on the salon, and the experience of your stylist. i don't really see why it should cost more. i would suggest getting some quotes from a few reputable salons.

i'd also suggest highlights simply because it's less maintenance. you can go about up to three months before you need to do your roots. and the orange tinge in the blonde will really depend on your natural hair color. i have red in my hair so we needed to use an ash blonde to get the best results, and i had to use purple shampoo. but my hair still turned a bit.
