Shovels on the lift?

What's up people,

Planning on building a kicker just off of the piste at my mountain and I had a couple people tell me I probably won't be allowed on the lift with a shovel?

Will I be denied lift access with shovel in hand?
What are your guys experiences?

And if the shovel in the lift is a no go how the hell am I meant to get a shovel up the mountain? (No walking isn't an option)

If there's a park you can try borrowing a friends park crew jacket, I doubt they would question you

Not sure what your mountain is, but where I worked people carried weird stuff up the lift all the time and as lifties, it's not really our duty to stop them. If someone asks what it's for, just say that you're shadowing park crew or something like that.

I once took up charcoal, lighter fluid, hot dogs and a cup of ketchup up the lift without being questioned. Just thought I'd let you know that

I took a parachute up the lift a few times, they asked me if I was going base jumping, I laughed and hopped on... I was going base jumping lol

Legit shovel, waiting for my avy shovel to come, but it's gonna be a couple weeks and snows getting softer everyday

The big question I'm surprised hasn't been asked yet is what mountain is this? That'll make a big difference. Regardless I'd just say go for it.

I work at a ski resort, and we dont allow anyone other then the staff to carry shovels up the chair. to big of a risk that you will drop the shovel or take somebody out while getting off... hide one in your backpack and youre good to go man

If it's a grain shovel, you can take the handle apart from the scoop and the bolt them back together when you get up there, then it will fit in a large backpack.

I did this at Vail a ton, just put it in your pants. Usually it works, and when it doesn't, they just laugh at you.

Not sure why somebody downvoted this. The resort that I work at only allows staff to take shovels on the lift and I would imagine that its pretty common policy, at least on the east coast.

Where are you skiing? Out West you should be able to bring an avy shovel on any lift without issues. Big Sky requires an avy shovel to ski Big Couloir, and Bridger recommends one for ridge terrain, so I always have mine in my pack.

Thanks for all the help guys, got it up no problem, one of the lifties did ask what I was doing with the shovel but it's all good I just told him I was gonna build chads gap
