I like my beard for a few reasons.

When it is winter and ski season it eliminates the need for a face mask and is all natural wind protection.

It allows me to remember what I recently ate since the flavor of said meal is still on my beard/mustache.

I always have a water reservoir in my beard after a shower so If I need water for some reason, I just go to my chin and get a few droplets of water (Really handy when chewing tobacco, I don't like the juices on my fingers).

My beard also allows me to chew tobacco more inconspicuously. No one knows I am chewing and I don't get in trouble for chewing when I usually can't.

It allows people to trust me, this is more psychological than anything, but I don't trust a man if they don't have a beard or a firm handshake.

Chicks dig it, but to a certain extent, because you have a beard doesn't mean panties will be thrown at you and you get blowjobs for dayz. It varies from girl to girl, but the girl I am with now really dislikes it when I go downtown on her with a beard and my facial hair in general. In the past it has been a negligible trait, but this girl is vehemently against it.

In my experience, for a lot of girls, beards (in the scruff to well-groomed, 1cm length range) are an acquired taste. At first, most don't like them (especially if you're the first guy with a beard they've been with). But they learn to like them and soon can't have anything else. I can't speak for long beards, but anything remotely close to the jawline seems pretty safe.

Im gunna say beards are ugly to most of the population. Like NS girls are into it but like the WASP trust fund girl you should be aiming for isn't going to like it.
