Well it really depends on what type of riding you plan to do. If you ski park all day and do a whole lot of switch riding it could be good to go symmetrical. For me, I don't buy symmetrical skis anymore. I ski mostly park but also some cruising around and even in the park I don't ski switch as much as I used to. I wouldn't worry about it, find a good ski at a good price and ride them. I don't think it really changes that much unless you are mounting your bindings way back.
Only if you do switch a lot. Even then you don't need it. People like crazy karl are ridding non symmetrical skis that aren't even center mounted and they kill it.
