I Don't Know What This Means

so like i've realized that people use slang/acronyms i've never heard before on this site, and i'm quite confused.

what does OP and IMO mean? and is everyone sarcastic or am i just really dumb...?

OP means Original Post(er).
So the person who made the thread would be the OP.

Example: OP I'm answering your question so you don't feel dumb anymore!


IMO just means in my opinion. People usually just say it as a more relaxed way to counter an argument, kinda like to each his own but this is what I think. (But really just in my opinion, im just over thinking/ explaining it).

Quite often it is, but I've seen it posted non-sarcastically too. It depends on the context.

Irrelevant but the town I live in is Orchard Park, aka OP. One of my first posts on NS I quoted someone who said OP and I was like hey I'm from OP too!

Learned quickly there was more meaning to OP than my hometown..

Whenever I see OP I always think ortho and para directors in ochem since i remember they go together by thinking OP.
