University of Utah

So I'm looking at colleges right now and I've been looking at University of Utah. Do any NS'ers go there? My parents think its a commuter school and not many students live on campus. I've also been looking at Montana State University so and info on there would be solid also.

Utah is obviously much more park-skier friendly than Montana. Plenty of ns'ers go there.

Im in the same boat as you OP. I'm assuming you're a junior in HS? I had my SAT scores sent to U of U, I'm not worried about getting accepted, but the idea of sending it out West is weighing heavy on me. I've always wanted to do it, but I'm facing the reality that once I go I'm probably never living back East again

Plenty of people live on campus and a shit ton of nsers are alumni and alot attend as well. Lots of skiers like you in slc.

I think it depends on what you want to study/ what environment you want to be in. Obviously both have awesome skiing, Utah more park friendly for sure. I mean U of U you have the city which is way different than Bozeman. Academically i'd go to Utah is your set on Business because of the fact that its in a fairly large city. I really enjoy MSU, super sick town, awesome people, killer skiing and good vibes.

Msu is amazing because it's right by yYellowstone and big sky.

Don't know much about u of u, but either would also give you a chance to also work at a resort.

Msu you could work in yellowstone for summer, u of u there's a lot of businesses around or resorts you could work at too.

Im a freshman at the U and i love it here i am studying metallurgical engineering. the school is awesome the people that i have met are all a great time i go skiing 2-3 days a week i know of a lot of kids that go a lot more than that. Its way better then bozeman i looked there too but its montana. oh and the mormons wont bother you they are nice. you can still get all the drugs and alcohol you want. i live on campus and i will next year too you have two choices either be part of the campus or be a commuter there is a ton of people that are active on campus. just join clubs and stuff and you will be fine also live in the dorms you freshman year chapel glen is the shit. also so many NS'ers go here. if you have any questions just message me.

I mean, people are definitely taking notice. Your school (alum or local college) doing well in a sport usually doesn't go unseen. If they beat duke shits gonna get crazy.

This is the place to be if you're a skier bro. Tons of kids move here to ski Brighton's world renowned rail setup. And the food in the dorms is on point.

Yeahhhh the U is sick. I'm in my 5th year here (decided to stay for grad school), and honestly couldn't be happier anywhere else. Stay in the dorms first year, you will have PLENTY of fun (like too much fun looking back), and ski your ass off. Once you're old enough to go downtown, that will be a good time as well. I moved out from Ohio (shittiest state ever) and am SO happy that I did. I can tell you I will never live for an extended time east of the Mississippi again.

haha ive been going out to Hood for the last 3 summers, at first just as a camper and then as a temp. employee. I'm definitely excited to get going, its just strange knowing im gonna be leaving everyone and everything i know.

I literally packed up my car and drove 24 solo hours out to Utah. Once I got there, my first week in school was probably the craziest of my life, and I loved every second of it. Believe me, its worth it.

I mean most people starting college are at least a tiny bit nervous. Just talk to people, explore the place, meet some people and it will become home pretty quickly.

I'm wondering the same thing. True, you can't beat the inbounds skiing around SLC but the town of Bozeman is 10 times cooler than SLC.

How is the town? I committed because Boulder costs too much money and this was my fallback but I've never been and don't know much about the actual town, I just know a lot about the school.
