So this past month, I broke my phone, got a replacement under warranty, and they sent me stuff to send back the defective phone.
HERE'S THE GOOD PART:
The return shipping label that they gave me had a tracking number and all that shit. I sent the phone to them on February 16th, with expedited shipping, it would get there in two days.
Fast forward to last week, I get a text saying that if I don't return the phone my account will be charged $700 for the phone. I quickly panic and go search the tracking number, which DOESN'T FUCKING EXIST ANYWHERE.
Confused as hell, I go searching for answers. I went to the Post Office where I gave them the package to ship. They tell me that the tracking number for Return Shipping Labels don't actually do anything. The dude I talked to said that they regularly have people come in with this same problem.
He told me that it was a scam that Verizon runs, and that if you don't have a receipt proving that you shipped the package, that you're pretty much fucked. I of course, did not get a receipt.
SO IF YOU RETURN A PHONE TO VERIZON, MAKE SURE THEY GIVE YOU A RECEIPT THAT PROVES YOU SHIPPED THE PHONE BACK.
