Do line skis still have durability problems?

I read a lot of threads from a year or two ago that say that line skis suck and they will fall apart (Delam, edge falling out, stuff like that) also how flexible/stiff are the 2014-2015 line chronics?

From what I understand the only skis that have durability issues are their low end cheap park skis aka the Mastermind and Afterbangs, you get what you pay for. The better higher end park/all mtn skis such as the Chronic and Blend generally have better construction and durability.

Will they fall apart? This totally depends on what skiing you're doing and how you treat them. If you're hitting park all day long smashing them on rails, wall rides, and other features then no they probably won't last more than one season but very few skis will last more than one season with this kind of abuse.
And if you go hit rails without detuning your edges then you're much more likely to go rip out and edge or crack them.

my afterbangs have taken a beating for three years and are still fine. They are by no means the best performing park ski, but they are fun as hell. just my experience and opinion on the ski, i know there are a lot of people who would say different aha.

no dude, I meant the skate deck construction

they have to be a super fun ski with all that flex

ahah yeah i have the old ABangs with real OG skate deck construction, they ruined it after the 2014 models.. just not the same ski anymore.

blends are nice but not durable. overall yes line still has issues thats why im moving on.

eeh, you saw LJ riding the OG ABangs in 7.3 "That's Different" too ;) aha. they are a fun jibby ski, perfect for summer setups, urban, and pre season. which is the reason why some dudes in TC still ride them.

understandably lots of guys, in TC or where ever, will not use them for park lapping or any time where you would be skiing on an actual ski hill, just because they are not the right ski for that and there are better, more enjoyable options.

never the less, Max Hill still kills it on the Afterbangs and no one can deny that.

i think its gotten better over the last few years but you have to understand this is a whole new construction they have been working with from the usual traditional ski. trying to build a ski like a skateboard seems like a great idea but that big of a change may take a couple of years to create a good ski. this year i think they got close and next year should be a lot better

Chronics are a solid ski, mine are great, and have held up amazing.

As for the afterbangs, I've noticed a trend that the 177s seem to fall apart more easily. I had a pair of 166's from 2011, which held up fine to some serious abuse, such as casing jumps and hitting rocks and stuff. I outgrew those so I bought a pair of the 177's from 2011 (purple ones) and those lasted 3 months before the edge peeled off in the tip. Every other pair I've seen of the 177s pre 2012 have done that. Perhaps the longer length puts more stress on the layers at the tips when they flex.

I dont know why more companies dont rivet there skis like k2. They dont have to be giant heavy rivets, just some small ones running through the edges at the tips.

i have the 166 length tpo and iv always wondered this! it makes scene too
