Granite_StateI think billions of tons of ash and toxic ashes would be sent into our atmosphere. I think pyroclastic flows would destroy the wildlife and communities surrounding the region. I think a change in regional climate and potentially global climate would occur. I think a lot of animals would die. And I think all the rich, spoiled little fucks will have to go somewhere else for their skiing summer camp from now on.

noodle_dudeWhat would happen if people were skiing at the time of the eruption? we would potentially lose dozens of pro skiers and hundreds of civilian skiers
Chubz.Well jeez..i dont know man. Its not like volcano eruptions cause mass destruction or anything..so i doubt anybody would even notice it.
noodle_dudeI'm saying that the eruption could happen so fast that people wouldn't have time to react
noodle_dudeAlso it's a stratovolcano so it would be a effusive eruption. it would be mostly fast flowing lava not ash and toxic gas.
OzzyJMy guess is that people wouldn't ski there any more if it erupted. That's pure speculation though.
big.loveDoesn't really answer "what if", but its is kind of cool and its related.

ParryWithAnATell your teacher to go to hell.
But I do have a plan if it starts to blow
1. Gather all pets and toss them into a sheet
2. Toss sheet over shoulder and run to my car
3. Drive to your teachers house and say I'm sorry
4. Go back and get all my Wizard Wax.
Granite_StateHence the pyroclastic flow I mentioned. But there would also be plenty of ash and toxic gas from the initial eruption, strato and cindercone volcanos have the highest gas contents of any volcano. The only types of volcano that doesn't release high quantities of ash or gas are shield and lava dome volcanos. Strato and lava dome volcanos have the most violent eruption. If Mt. Hood went, it would be very bad.

WillardI swore i read something saying it was gonna go in 60 days or less. So will that be the end of Timberline summer skiing? If Palmer and Mile are destroyed they wont be able to build new ones. I'm also wondering how this will effect Govy/Ski Bowl.
Squirrel_MurphyOut west, we're all fucked.
CaseyYeah well on the bright side everything has already blown relatively recently so hopefully we'll be good for at least another lifetime. If Rainier goes though, lookout.
no_steezeIt would unfreeze Jack Nicholson
stupendous-manProbably wouldn't effect the snow conditions that much
last_tangoWhat if rainer and hood erupted at the same time?
Steezy_IN_KCI read a hypothetical article about this last year. I guess tons of wildlife was evacuating the area and they thought it was going to erupt. 6th sense theory basically.
Wish I could find that article again. Basically Bye Bye west coast. I was on the edge of the "ash zone" if I remember correctly. That's the Kansas and Missouri border.
Granite_StateNothing worse than a sheet full of angry ferrets.
