john18061806somehow my nosebutter to concussion video has more views than candide's recent cork 810 on. I have no clue how that happened. are there more views in the crash category? or was it my serendipitous genius in the thumbnail and title being more perfect than clickbait?
The Candide video was posted in a whole bunch of other places by others, so they all probably beat us to the punch on the Facebook traffic game. Yours might have done better simply because it was one source and went viral from there.
vichka.fonarevMy problem is that it is not counting views at all, last time I checked the youtube video have around 60 views, and the newschoolers had 120 views.
youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_DtYdqpXbk
NS - https://www.newschoolers.com/membervideo/761592.0/Backyard-Ski-and-Snowboard-Edit?s=217322&t=6&o=8
BWalmerI believe youtube only counts the view if you watched until the end (or very close to it), while NS counts the loading as a view (correct me if I'm wrong Bishop). So lets say 120 people loaded the video on Ns but didn't make it to the end, youtube won't count that as a view. I'm pretty sure that's how it works...but I could very well be completely wrong.
BWalmer - You're right, Youtube has a different way of calculating views, though I'm not exactly sure how it works. We don't just count the view on page load, the view is only counted when the video actually starts - but there is likely some discrepancies that happen between the two.
View counters are actually really hard and there's a million ways to do it, so its really easy for them to get a few hundred or more out of sync. One reason that view counts dropped on Newschoolers from what they were easily 5 years ago is we got a lot stricter about counting what was a view and what isn't.
