Replying to Ski Boarding
So there is a group of ski boarders at my local hill, and they're pretty chill. One of the guys rides for Revel*8, and is pretty badass on his boards. I only have one problem with ski boards, I can't take them seriously. The mentioned guys don't take it too seriously, even though they kickass. I was exposed to the serious side of ski boarding during a recent trip out west. I was lapping the park, and a crew of 3 ski boarders come through and are just slaying everything. Elusives everywhere, disastering quad kinks to the third kink, and throwing misty sevens. I looked at them for a bit, sat down, and couldnt stop laughing. I thought it was pretty cool, it just looked ridiculous, every motion was rushed and tiny. After returning home and looking up some riders for Revel*8, I found a few that stuck out. These guys were essentially reviving the g aspect of skiing. 5Xl everything, bandanas, all saga and orage. They would look pretty steezy if they weren't on 110 cm boards. The companies who make the boards try to sell the sport as a serious one. Don't get me wrong, ski boarding is harder than normal skiing when it comes to jumps, 100%. I wouldn't have any idea about rails though. I just can't see ski boarding as a REAL, serious sport. I can only envision it as more of a pastime for when you're bored. What do you guys think about ski boarding? I'm pretty interested to hear.
