Not sure what park ski

Ok so I just broke my ar7s and need a new park ski. Haven't been keeping up with ski stuff for the past few years so am curious to what brands and possible new skis are now out on the market. I'm looking to purchase a park ski and keep in mind that im in the park about 70percent of my time and the other 30percent shredding groomers. Looking for something playful but not a straight noodle I need it to hold up decent for jumps and groomers. Also I prefer rails over jumps but hit both almost equally. So with that being said whats everyone personally prefer or suggest I purchase. Answers will receive +K. Thanks for your time!

Just wondering - is there anything about the AR7 that's prompting you to check out other models? I've only demoed the AR7 once but thought it was epic, definitely playful, and definitely a ski to meet your 70/30 park/groomer requirement. The only other ski I'm amped to try is the Volkl Wall, which sounds like it would suit you too.

^ +K thank you for responding and I had nothing against the ar7s actually really liked them just wanted to see what other people had to say about possible other options. Or possibly a brand Ive never even heard of. Because like I said haven't been keeping up with new skis available for 3 or 4 years now

Atomic punx are my favorite for park and groomers, certainly should be more playful than your AR7's which are known for their stiffness. The new ones are supposedly a little stiffer so they handle jumps better, atomic makes a lively ski.

Otherwise the stock answer to what park ski seems to be ON3P filthy rich, J-skis whipit, Icelantic da'nollie, Faction candide 1.0, Line chronics or K2 domains.

If you are looking for something slightly wider and all mountain oriented the Rossignol Slat has been getting some positive attention lately.

I ride the volkl wall, and can definitely vouch for it. I ride a decent amount of groomers along with park, and it's stable and fun in and out of the park. It can be compared to the ar7, and it's also very durable. You can't really go wrong with either.

Volkl Step! That's what I'm rocking at the moment. Love it. It's rockered front and back which is why I want to try the Wall which is cambered - just to see the difference really. Otherwise really stoked with them.

hey man, i ride on a pair of Revision Talismans and even though i center mounted them, i still find that they perform really nicely on the hard pack. Iv actually gotten to enjoy the freeride aspect of skiing a lot more because of the fun iv had charging, carving, and jibing every bump. They are a bit wider at 96 underfoot, but you get use to it quickly, and they are supper fun the surf around on. I also prefer rails and these sticks are pretty fun to jib with, and are also stable on jumps, they have a medium flex so they are what you are asking for. definitely check em out. however like most skis, i dont know if they will last as long as your AR7s.

i heard the ar7 was an amazing park ski even though its a stiffer model if you like going big and what not, its probably one of the best. although i really like some of the volkl skis, i have the volkl kink from 2014 which is an all mountain ski in their line but it has done great in the park. Its more of a stiffer medium flex, the only down side is that they seem to wear down quick maybe im wrong because this is my first year skiing so idk to much about durability but my friends armada arvs are in the same condition of mine and hes had them for 3 or 4 years now. another stiff model that i heard was really really good was the batalla reapers, which have a sweet top sheet. hope that helps.

I love my icelantic da'nollies they're super playful but still very stable. Good width too so you can really rip anywhere with them. Also they're pretty much bombproof, i've put them through hell this year and they are perfectly fine. Another ski you should look into is the k2 shreditor 92 i think they're $400 on sale right now, again i've heard nothin but good things about them. Check em out and goodluck on getting the new skis.

word thanks for all the replies guys and am just curious is there really much of a difference between the t-halls and ar7s besides the price? Also curious about the b-dogs and J-skis whipit model.

Difference between the Thall and AR7 is purely the flex of the ski. Thalls are softer and AR7's are stiffer. Other than that they have the exact same dimensions and construction (same base, same edge, etc).

I loved my AR7's to bits just an extremely reliable ski, never ever have to worry about it washing out on landings or losing an edge on hardpack (provided your edges are somewhat tuned).

You do say however you're looking for something playful and so the THall would probably be a better choice as it has a softer flex which make butters slightly easier. The B-Dogs and Whipits will probably feel even more playful than the THalls because they have rocker in them instead of straight camber. However the trade off to this is generally rockered park skis are slightly more prone to washing out on big landings.

How big are you OP? Weight and Size?

+K thanks man and my size is 160lbs and 5'10/5'11 and I also currently am using my friends alpha 1s and they are 182cm and I think they might be kind of big but not sure if its just because I'm not use to the ski. So also kind of curious what size ski most people rock at my height because think I'm going to go with 176-179 in size

and I always thought 182 was a good size for me but at the same time there are people a lot bigger and taller then me that use this size because this is the largest in which they come. So not sure I know the general NS answer is get the biggest size to lol.

Well I'm 5'8ish and ride a 176cm AR7 and I like it a lot.

Size comes down to a few things though, if you're planning on hitting big jumps and features a lot then going for a larger size is a good idea.
If you're spending more time just cruising and hitting rails then you'd probably want to go for a smaller size.

If I was your size and weight I would personally go for 181s. Generally I like to go for a ski that is the same height or slightly longer than me for the added stability on big kickers. If you're finding the 182cm Alpha 1's overpowering or too much then definitely go down to the 176cm.

Volkl walls are great skis just keep in mind they are really stiff and not that playful compared to a lot of other skis out there, also volkl steps are great to and K2 domains have very similar construction
