I was at sugarbush the other day and I saw someone wearing an Ns hoodie and his friends had saga. I tried to do the callout but you guys didn't hear me. Reveal yourself.
There's as far as I know, no NSers at any of the three mountains I frequent. Every time i try the call out other freeskiers look at me like I'm an idiot. Basically only me and my group of friends go on NS.
Peter.Yes. Skiing with people is infinitely more fun than skiing alone
That is what NS is supposed to be all about: Get together with your friends to go skiing, share the stories you create and find new friends to go skiing with. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Hmmmm... which mountains? Sounds like you guys need a whack of NS stickers to give out. Gotta educate some people. Perhaps you guys need a Tell-A-Friend tour stop to back it all up. :)
You should ask them why they don't come on more. Would be very curious to hear the answer.
*skis over and says "hey youre on NS, whats your username?*
boom, a brand new friendship is formed
stop being so antisocial you guys
I used it a few times at my local hill. Quick found out they were posers wear NS gear or they are the one time users that slowly walks away when you ask the question.
Would totally, but no way to get stickers.... I can speak for myself and most likely other fellow NS's maybe having some sort of online store even just for die-cuts to rep cause even with the self adressed letter one cannot grab ones for car window.. and etc. $$ to go to the Site and for those who run it
B.QuincyPerformed this for the first time before taft, it is da best.
NICE

But when successful; a high five is earned!
Whoa... tell me more about these people. Define both posers and and the one time users that walk away? I don't understand these people and we need to educate some fuckers.
tdolloPreformed the call out today. buddy answered correctly. good times ensued.
WIN

Derp.... my bad dude. I know our pipeline has sucked ass on this. I PROMISE you that within maximum a few months this will be fixed.
I've had about a 50% success rate with the standard callout.
One guy was fully park-rat supreme, had the NS collab jacket even - I threw him the NS callout, he looked at me like I was some sort of alien and mumbled something about having never been to Alta.
Took me about 2 seasons to get over the awkwardness and try it again.

Posers that wear gear: Boy, they love newschoolers.com. They have stickers on their helmets, (or) have a complete O'Neil NS collab suit; anything that screams: I am a Newschoolers user. But they have never been on the site, never has a username and know nothing of the culture. Their answer to the callout is "whaaaaaa?" then, "oh, I am not a member. Their brother tends to be the active user, but not all the time.
One time users that walk away: They hate NS. They hate NS so much, all they can say about the culture is "full of gayfag troll and assholes". One time users were told about it at school; registered, post 3 dumb threads and get harrassed for not following NSG etiquette. The can't tell you that patrol blew up Chad's, but can sure tell you about their "unique" experiences online. Maybe I have more respect for these people...

To be fair, we do a terrible job promoting this and reminding people that its there. Perhaps we should put it on the registration page or something...

Wild.... the first case is nuts. Those to me are just people waiting to be converted.
The second is actually a big problem. I hate hearing that story, because its amazing how bad of an experience some people can have. There are loads of industry/pro types that have had the second experience and rage quit. Usually in the end we win people back, but there was a span there where the 'fuckstick' culture on the site got out of control. That is where some of the new restrictive rules have come from... couple of dicks really ruining the party for everyone.
I mean sure if you don't follow etiquette its your own fault, but at the same time a n00b doesn't have many places to learn how to act so when the trolls come out just to fuck with them nobody wins.
If you're ever talking to anyone in either of those groups, ask them if they'd volunteer for a quick 15 minute interview from me. I'd be curious to learn more about their experience. (note this goes for anyone reading this).

I hope so. My friend group is all relatively the same in skill level. I really want to meet some dudes that are way better than me so that I can get pushed to ski better!

I ski mainly at 3 small mountains near Ottawa. Camp Fortune, Edelweiss and Mont. Cascades. Occasionally I go to St. Sauveur near montreal where I'm sure there are NSers but I don't go frequently enough to start making friends and connections up there. I'm sure there are a couple NSers at Edelwiess since they have a decent park. Maybe i've just been unlucky and I've been doing the callout to the wrong people. :(

Some history for you:
Matt Harvey founded Newschoolers in his bedroom in Ottawa. Skied Edelwiess, and that was where the original crew was from.
Newschoolers is now in Montreal. You should hit us up sometime when you're heading to Sauveur and we'll link up.
