Armada thall ski advice

Hey guys, so I've almost decided on a new pair of thalls to ski on for next year, but at a local retailer they only have them in 181s, I'm 14 5'11" 160 pounds I'm very athletic I'm at the gym everyday, and I ski all mountain and park 50-50 in northeast. I ski hard and fast and I'm just wondering I'm moving on from 171 el reys which were nice transition skis but they broke constantly and were really stiff (2012s). Is 181 too long? And do you think my rossi axium 120s will work on them? Really any advice you have would be great thanks

Hi

I think 181cm is perfect choice for your height, but I can't say the same about your bindings.

Perfect combination for this skis will be Rossi FKS 140/Look Pivot 14 or Salomon WTR STH2 13/STH 14 Driver.

I'm 5"4 and 115 lbs and using 161s but it's all personal preference and how comfy you are with what you have now. If you feel like you want/need it then go ahead. There are some size guides online and should be one at your shop. If you get something with rocker or early rise it will ski like it's shorter

Spot on about the bindings but look pivot 12s also work

Yes of course, I forgot about it :), FKS/Pivot with 12 DIN scale also will be perfect choice for weight of topic starter.

Probly a little different but I wouldn't say it would effect you much. I think mine are -1 back or maybe true to center and I feel fine but I have always skied center skis so I'm not sure how different it is, hopefully someone who knows more will comment.

I know they are different skis, but I mounted my revision talismans at true center and I find that they still carve well.

IMHO: because STH/FKS/Pivot it is next (high) level of durability and stability in bindings system it is what you need with your aggressive style of skiing (you wrote about it)

And the second thing, that top model of skis like Thalls need bindings with the same level of technologies

It like to use Porsche Cayenne with good european/japanish tyres instead cheap chinese or with second hand tyres with 0% protector resource...

Thanks man totally makes sense!! Yeah so ill go with those bindings and try to figure out where to mount them in the meantime

Imo true center isnt bad at all i actually like it more if your doing more than 50% park then i would mount them true center, also not sure if the thalls are a symetrical ski but if they are then you will be totally fine

same, I like having the length of tail behind me be the same as the tip in front of me. I just feel more balanced weather im jibing around in the park or playing around the mountain.

Whatever Armada's 'recommended' line is, is where you should mount them...Armada knows whats up in the newschool/freeride scene.

The skis that have the line -2.5 usually have uneven tip/tail rocker. Armada centers you on camber

Mount them -2cm back from true center. You won't notice on rails and its still giving a little bit of bias for groomies and bumps. Mounted my 171 thalls at back in 07'ish(the sidecut and camber profile hasn't changed much since then) -1cm from true center. Was pretty pleased where they were mounted but if you want just a tad more forward bias -2cm back from center would help out a bit and give you a tiny bit extra nose to drive.
