Replying to Touring skis for my dad
Hi NS! Considering buying my dad a pair of skis for his birthday, he's in need of a new pair. However, he also enjoys his snow-showing in his old age so I thought touring skis would be perfect for him!
He is roughly 174/5/6 and weighs maybe just under 80 kilos I would guess. He is 65 and he has a bad knee, however he is still a good skier but just not as fast as he used to be.
With that said I am looking for an easy going ski which he can use no problem on the black pistes, hes not too much of a powder guy, I believe it would be too much work for him. Just need a ski that can turn really well on a dime I suppose.
For comparison, 1 or 2 seasons ago he tried either the Dynastar Powertrack or the narrow Chams (not too sure, one of the Dynastar rentals) and enjoyed them in comparison to his old, heavy, worn out Salomons. I suggested a taller size so he can feel more confident at higher speeds for stability, however he preferred the smaller size as it was simply easier for him.
In terms of bindings, I'm not looking towards getting the super expensive Dynafit bindings, just something which does the job. Would appreciate the help, cheers! Need you to feed your touring knowledge to me as I know near to nothing other than light=good.
