DeebieSkeebiesgood to know, they seemed pretty similar. how much more of an improvement are they compared to the older STH driver toe-pieces? performance-speaking
.lenconThe STH 2 13 and 16 are the exact same just different din settings. So both have the same amount of similarities.
MuggydudeThis is misinformation- so please make sure you know what you're talking about before you make statements like that.
The toe on the sth2 13s has a plastic "pillar" (the part between the base plate and upper toe piece), where as the 16 has a metal pillar. The 16 also has some extra metal in the heel, but it's mostly cosmetic.
I'd say go for 16 if you are either over 150 lbs, aggressive/expert skier, or both. Personally I think if you ski with a 7 din or above I'd always go for the 16 for the extra durability. The 13 is still an awesome binding though, think it'd be pretty hard to break the toe.
IMO the STH2 are one of the best engineered bindings on the market. Light-midweight, awesome driver toe, elastic, large boot adjust-ability, low stack height, lets the ski flex, and very durable. Definitely an improvement over the older bindings.
