UglyboyIf you have two candidates from same area, same grades etc but the only difference is one is black and one is white. It dictates that both students should be equally considered. However, if one student is from low socio-economic area then they are given extra consideration. That is equal opportunity. Don't be bitter because a kid who hasn't had the opportunities as yourself lives in a low socio-economic area and attended poor public school is given more consideration than you.
College is designed so everyone has equal opportunity. And by eliminating the variables in which dictates just how well a student can perform it creates a level playing field.
Bombogenesisstill haven't answered my question.
JustGoWithIt"Firstly, blacks aren't suppressing themselves. That argument is ignorant. Look at how public housing us set up. They put all the lower socio-economic people into the same area and then there isn't motivation to get out of the ghetto. If America did what Australia has done and put public housing in all suburbs then they would associate with other higher socio-economic classes and be motivated to not partake in crime and actually get an education."youwleft out segregation which was not a hundred fifty years ago. I have no idea how you got from my post me saying because of slavery being a thug is OK. I said it's a factor and a pretty big one. segregation ened in the early 1970's discrimination still goes on today no idea where this 150 came from. I'm also not saying it justifies it but it's a huge factor you can't deny that.
I have witnessed with my own eyes that that does not work. They actually just turn it into another ghetto.
"Secondly, like zzzskis has already said, the slavery argument is very much alive and many blacks feel injustice about slavery."
Something that happened to your ancestors over 150 years ago is no excuse for being a thug. And I am not saying that racism doesn't exist. But you can't blame all your problems on it.
"Thirdly, no they don't. College is equal opportunity"
I lol'd
"you're just bitter because there are blacks smarter than you"
Probably
"For a culture of skiers that love to appropriate black culture. You sure don't give a shit about
blacks themselvess"
You're right, I don't give a shit about the black culture. I do however give a shit about skiing.
.frenchyYeah man, I come from a country club family. My dad makes 7 mil a year.
Lol shut the fuck up, I wasn't offended and didn't say I was, it was just african americans being dipshits.
Granite_StateI mean, without actually being one of those people, its impossible to answer that question. People all have different reasons for being on welfare/pursuing education. You asked the broadest question possible, a question that could have a multitude of answers, and none being the correct one, showing you really have no grasp on this matter.
I made two posts that anyone with half a brain could understand, and yet you fail to see the value of the information. Whites and blacks are essentially equal in their welfare usage yet blacks have less access to a full education. So why would someone growing up in a low income area, knowing they aren't being given equal access to education, want to pursue it? And how would they pursue higher education if they dont make enough to qualify for student loans? or have enough to pay out of pocket?
BombogenesisI want to know how being on welfare for life helps motivate people to pull themselves up and make themselves better. It's simple. Thanks.
zzzskizzzhowever they definitely are people and families that definitely need welfare.
BombogenesisYeah no kidding but there are also a ton of people of various backgrounds who see it as means of income and therefore have no reason to do a goddamn thing for themselves. It's not a hard concept, but apparently linking random studies about black kids and AP classes or whatever makes it ok.

Granite_StateIf thats what you got from my posts then I actually feel bad for you. Keep living in your fantasy world where all races are treated equal, must be nice.
nfsoxI'm sorry, but isn't newschoolers like.... the whitest place on the internet?
JustGoWithItThe Nazi and KKK forums may have us beat.

k-robhence why in the 8 years i've been on this site the conversation in these threads has never gone beyond the point of debating whether or not racism even exists
Lord_Byronas a white kid from a well to do background, he's an expert in race relations.
BombogenesisAnd you're a (half?/ugly) black kid adopted into a rich white family so you can go ahead and fuck right off.
Lord_Byronlol so im right?
BombogenesisMy original comment, and basically my whole line of comments have been about public assistance independent of race. I haven't really posted about race at all in here. The lack of reading comprehension from people I assume to be adults is startling to say the least. I guarantee I interact with more minorities on a daily basis than you do. I would put my car on it.
BombogenesisJust read back through every post I made in the thread... Not one mentioning race at all until I called Byron an ugly black kid who was adopted into a white family which is grounded in truth. Nearly every post back to me had something to do with race... Yet I'm the alleged racist or the one who doesn't understand race.
I guess it's cause I said people in the ghetto are on perpetual assistance and that to some people meant black people. Pretty racist to assume that, don't you think?
You guys look stupid as fuck. Lol.

KtGoI just really hope all of the racist people on this site and particularly this thread, know that they are racist and embrace it.
Please don't become one of those assholes that spews racist shit constantly and then actively argues that you are not racist because you have that one black friend. (btw, they are not really your friend.)
I also wonder how many of you identify as Christian, and how you can see yourself as a such when you so openly preach hate.
JustGoWithItHowever some of us believe in self responsibility and see the lack of such a quality in some members of the black community more often than other races. Its not racism, it's fact.

Lord_ByronThe irony is your inability to claim responsibility for your own racially unequal ideals.
if you werent racist, you would be ok with the idea that people of color aspire to take over the white role in the US. We want to be ceo's and lawyers, and based on your logic you should support those aspirations.
I doubt you do.
JustGoWithItWhat? Assumption is a dangerous thing. I believe you get what you give in this world. If one day blacks are the new majority and whites are living in the ghettos because of their own actions then so be it. I support those who put effort towards their aspirations. Not sit on their ass and expect others to give it to them.
-benedettoGoing to assume, even though it's a dangerous thing. But that's an easy thing to say when you were probably brought into this life into a privileged society on a level playing field. Not born into a ghetto where breaking the cycle is a daunting task. Being accepted into your community is far more appealing during the critical years of your life when your imitating your surroundings. Think of a time in your life where you imitated your surroundings instead of doing the right thing like getting in trouble with friends at school even though you knew what the right thing to do was. I'm not saying it's impossible to rise out of poverty but the success rate is not high. We don't need stats to prove that. I offer no solution though. Just a little mental exploration.

JustGoWithItSo in other words, everyone who disagrees with you is racist? I doubt any of us truely have hate toward someone of color because of their skin color. However some of us believe in self responsibility and see the lack of such a quality in some members of the black community more often than other races. Its not racism, it's fact.
.frenchyAnd every one of those bullets was deserved ;)
KtGoPeople can disagree with me all day long, what I believe really doesn't matter in the long run. I'm just wondering why you doubt that "any of you" truly have hate toward a specific race... that is exactly what I am reading constantly. Generalizations, hateful language etc.
I also believe in self responsibility but with that, I also understand that this country is a very different one to live in depending on what you look like. There are different cultural norms, history, experiences and realities. I find that it is extremely dangerous to generalize the way you do. To hold an entire group of people responsible for the disconnected view you have due to the news you choose to watch or the Facebook feed you see (people naturally tend to surround themselves with like-minded people) allows you to openly justify these views.
Have you ever had a conversation with one of these people that you are talking about concerning their life experiences? Have you ever looked into the history of the country and asked yourself why our nation's reality is what it is?
If you are every curious, I would love to share some of the information I have. If not, that's fine too.
My point is that I find it contradictory when people see themselves as good Christians and then preach really dangerous, hurtful messages. It makes no sense to me.
ianrich511Can we get back to the real issue here? Why is there no black NASCAR driver?
