what are you trying to solve for? that's not even a problem, just an equation with 3 variables. you need to establish what variable you are solving for!!!!!!ahhhhhh!!

The bottom side of the shape is exactly half the top so, the 4th side which we call V, now fits in like zis.

Alright, I think I got it. First, this theorem only works for right triangles. Now, even though there's three variables, you can solve it with only one known. That would be the angle between sides X and Z or Y and Z, so lets call the angle between X and Z, 'theta'. Now, if you solve the equation for X you get X= Sqrt ((X sec theta)^2)-((X tan theta)^2). Now if you want to pull the X's out of there to solve in terms of Theta, well then you've got me.

ypu cant solve a problem withut a fixed variable. with one variable it will give you a line of possible points, with two variables it will give you the actual solution. you need at least on other equation to intersect that on a graph and you need to define y in order to solve for one point on a graph.
