Chubz.People progress at their own pace. Why do you care how much your friend is skiing/progressing. Focus on yourself and let him ski how he wants to. Its not your job to control how other people ski. And if he thinks hes good and wants to be filmed let him do that. Its none of your business what he does in his free time.
iantheunderdogSo this is my second year doing Park skiing and this is my first year doing rails. I started out the season not doing much and slowly progressed. I ski with a group of 5 people around my skill level.people close to your level and skiing in a group with people usually pushes me and others to try new tricks and get better. Most of the people in my group try new tricks that arnt insane and hit any rail in the park. we progressed around the same. I can do flips but I have a feeling someone will start learning them soon.I can do spin tricks off any rail in the park same with all the people in the group except one. Its frustrating that he doesn't ever try new stuff and its gotten to the point where I stop trying to get him to because its a waist. Like some features I can do swaps then 270s off but he doesn't even hit them because he doesn't have balls. Earlier this season I tried to teach him 360s and it took him 6 days to commit to trying a trick so easy. he landed it first try. Its so annoying that he doesn't try new stuff but I have kind of given up. He has the potential to get good but he doesn't even have the balls to hit a rail more then 2 feet off the ground. Im posting this thread because I want to know if anybody had any similar situations like this or you could give me advice. I know it shouldn't matter as long as hes having fun but hes just really not ballsy compared to all of us and I have tryed everything to get him better/ more willing but idk. It sucks cus he skis the most but hes not great. He also thinks hes great and has a really good local filmier film him. IDK if he pays him or not.
cbaskierthe only person I ski with and I hate having him look gaperish.

APunx176I personally think that pushing someone to get better is a good thing, especially if they want to but are too scared. Peer pressure is a good thing when used correctly in skiing.
kryptonicId have to say from my experience not just from skiing but from skateboarding as well that people progress at their own pace, however, people that are more ballsy and more apt to trying new things will most likely progress at a much quicker rate. A good example would be kane sheckler, he started skateboarding 2 or 3 years ago and hes progress so much its absolutely incredible. The fact of the matter is, if you really want to go somewhere in skiing other than having it as a hobby or what not, you have to be ballsy. The way i think of it is that if im about to hit a 60 footer for the first time and ive hit some 40s and some 50s It shouldnt be much harder, not only that but the longer you wait to try it the more fear builds up, so you just have to do it because thats the only way its going to get better. I also feel that if you are ballsy freeskiing is a lot more enjoyable because i think the reason i like it so much is because i like failing getting back up and then succeeding, its just really gratifying, so the more stuff i try that i dont think i can do the better i feel about it.really well said, I think exactly like that. My first time trying a 5 way earlyer this season I was getting scared but just went for it. I didn't land it but I kept at it cus I realized it wasn't that bad.
Chubz. That might work for you but that might not work for somebody else. Like i said before everybody progresses at their own pace. And people progress in different ways.
