SessionPermanent shin bang relief: Learn how to fucking ski.
K.BreitBackseat skiing is #1. Number two is that your liners are packed out, either bake them slippers and remold them. Also, if you have really skinny calves (don't be afraid, mine are so skinny that there's nothing out there that comes near a good fit without my bootfitter adding some padding), make sure you take up as much room as possible in your shin/calf area. GO TO A BOOTFITTER, they are magic men, and after a few adjustments you'll be a damn wizard on snow. It takes some getting used to, and is a bit pricey, but boots are the MOST important part of your gear in my opinion, if you can't comfortable and confidently transfer your energy to your skis to make them do what you want, you won't be skiing anywhere near your full ability. Footbeds also make a difference, in intense cases, orthodics are better. I have orthodics as well, and they are worth wayyyyy more than the $200 I payed for them, my arches are a mile high and about as short as a smartcar.
PoikenzBaking a packed out liner won't help. I also have orthotics and I find that the fully custom mouldable footbed they offer in ski shops work better than an everyday orthotic because it is stiff, where regular orthotics are nice and padded for walking, running, and standing, not skiing.
