Salomon guardian 13-16 vs tyrolia adrenalin 13-16

Hello,

I want to know what's better for me between salomon guardian (I still don't know what would be better between 13 or 16 din) and the tyrolia adrenalin (13 or 16?).

I already got my pair of skis for the park. And now I had a huge deal and I bought the salomon rocker2 122 2014 for 280$. So, what would be better for me on those skies?

I'm 6'2, 195 pounds. I'm not a professional, but I ski big powder and get some small cliffs (10-15 feets).

Where I ski, there's already some snowshoeing or ski tracks, but sometimes there's no tracks to the top. It would be for 2-3 hours tour or less.

So : Guardian 13
or Guardian 16
or Adrenalin 13
or Adrenalin 16 ??

2. get the 16 din no matter which one you get.
3. Its kind of preference: The guardian is lower to the ski which is really nice, but the adrenalin is lighter so better up hill performance, but puts you super high on the ski. Some people don't mind it but i like my bindings close to the ski. The guardians don't have a low angle hike setting which could be a issue tho. Both have pros and cons but both are durable

I'm reposting this from an older thread because I can't be bothered to retype it:

I have lots of friends on the Guardians and have seen enough to never want a pair - they have an inherent weakness on the frame near the toe and I've seen a lot snap clean in two at that point (the stress supposedly comes from snow build up under toe whilst touring but I have had friends aware of this who have checked constantly and they've still snapped when torqued slightly). I've also seen friends get frustrated with the annoyance mentioned above where the riser moves and the ski locks back into ski mode whilst touring. Given they're the heaviest option and seem the most prone to breaking I don't really see the appeal even if they do ski well.

I have about 100 days on Adrenalins and love them - they ski and tour much better than a pair of Dukes I had and are the lightest out of the burlier frame bindings. I've also rarely have icing issues (I ski in Canadian Rockies so similar snow to you).

If you're actually going to be touring, don't bother with Guardians.

why do people say this so much? i dont use a din higher than 12 unless im on some pieces of shit that pre release, and people keep saying to get the 16s (whether i get the guardians or adrenalins). i shred hard but if theyre constructed the exact same (which seems to be the case given the weights are nearly identical) besides the spring, why should i spend another 100 bucks to get the 16s?

or are they not built identically?

Well I'm not sure about you but OP was a big guy so he would want a big binding. As long as you aren't on the highest din on your binding and fit in the din range any binding is appropriate

I'm starting to really hate my guardians since I've been touring more lately. They are really bulky, which means awesome downhill and resort skiing performance, but while touring it's not so nice. They also collect plenty of ice under the toe piece which can eventually break the binding but that's not such a big problem after all. Lock mech can get stuck but very rarely and there's not mellow hill climb mode and it don't get totally flat which can be a bit annoying sometimes. But if you are looking binding with touring mode and you want to ride it regular also in resorts this is one of the best things you can get. I havent ridden adrealin but i think i'll try that next, even though ride height is a bit higher.

Adrenalin is 36mm and guardian is 26mm I think

this and also theres a durability factor in some bindings to for example a tyrollia attack 13 is all plastic and in the attack 16 the heel piece as more metal in it

I have attack 13s and they've held up great. No durability issues at all so yeahhh..

Yah on mine the brakes are pretty fucked and a piece of plastic on the heal piece is completely cracked, the 16s just have a higher likely hood of lasting longer and. It breaking doesn't mean the 13s won't

right yeah exactly, but i havent found anywhere that says this is the case with these bindings. and the weight is nearly identical. if it's all the same components id rather just get the 13... i never DIN above 12

Yah if you don't neccessarily need it then get the binding that makes sense for your skiing just the metal in the heal piece with be more durable and much harde ego break

i think you'd see a lot more adrenalins if Tyrolia put the same amount of marketing dollars as Salomon does with the Guardian. both are a step up from the marker duke. the adrenalin is lighter and flexes with the ski much better. i have about 50 days touring/skiing with the adrenalin and couldn't be happier. i don't notice how high off the ski i am.

salomon binding on salomon ski doubles the warranty of your ski to two years, if that's of any consideration to you.

If you actually ever plan on touring, the adrenalin is the superior binding. Still stiff and responsive, but lighter and better touring features.
